About this deal

It offers an obvious upgrade in terms of its color palette, which is cooler and allows for more natural skin tones. If you don’t have any of the films on Blu-ray or only need the Original 8, it’s a pretty good set, but not the best option on the market. The Friday the 13th Collection – Deluxe Edition will be available for purchase on Tuesday, October 13th, 2020. For this review of the massive "Deluxe Edition," we've broken Jason's overall continuity and evolution as the unstoppable, supernatural killing machine into three timelines. Overall, depth is largely outstanding with excellent separation of the foreground from the background, and several objects feel as though crashing through the screen thanks to the filmmakers' gimmick photography.

Agreed on the Part 2 footage, although when you view all of the results there's a reason why most of it was left on the cutting room floor. Along with the video, all four films also enjoy new DTS-HD MA soundtracks, and as is customary with most Scream Factory releases, owners have a choice between the original monaural and stereo tracks or rebranded 5. However, the audio selection is more than serviceable—even giving a minor amount of boost to the disco theme during the opening and closing credits.

Yes, not counting the one sold at Walmart that had a Vudu promo copy attached (but that may have been only for the DVD set, I can't remember). The Friday the 13th series is one of the longest-running and most successful horror franchises in film history, turning the psychopath, machete-wielding Jason Voorhees and his infamous hockey mask into pop culture icons. The amateur makeup-effects artist is responsible for acquainting Jason with his trademark hockey mask, and after picking up a machete in the second half, Jason dons, for the first time, the recognizable and beloved outfit that's become a Halloween staple.

Interestingly, the first two entries display a better, more extensive mid-range, generating an attractively broad and welcoming soundstage with well-balanced channel separation throughout. As a kid of the 80s who grew up watching these films edited for content on broadcast television, I have many fond memories of this series. Affixed to one of the sides upon arrival is a sheet with some pertinent information, like bonus feature listings. While a group of teenagers throw a party next door, a small family, including the young and resourceful Tommy Jarvis, attempt to steer clear of them. are candid and honest with their memories and opinions, so it's not a series of shallow "we had such a great time" stories.

All twelve features come with excellent lossless audio presentations, and the entire package makes for a highly recommended release. The reason is, like you mentioned, the gore scenes run too long in the unrated cut, and it's much more obvious you are seeing Tom Savini's special effects (which are great, of course). Grain is also slightly more resolved, allowing for higher levels of shadow detail and deeper blacks. They wind up in the real world together, battling it out while their potential victims stand by to see who is victorious. All of the discs line up nicely with matching info along the spine bottoms (Scream and Blu-ray logos, model numbers, and SDH notifications). But, for fans of only the original eight films, this is a solid cost-effective way of picking these films up. scored most all of the Friday the 13th films from the first to Jason Goes to Hell, with the exception of Manhattan. The film had a mixed reception from critics and fans alike in 2002, but was an effective stop gap for what came next.
