About this deal

with artist Tom Lyle in August 1987 and Valkyrie with artist Paul Gulacy in October 1987, he began work on Carl Potts' Alien Legion series for Marvel's Epic Comics imprint, under editor Archie Goodwin. Besides that, if you've got access to a decent library of trades and back issues, you can follow Dick's journey from adolescense to manhood like he were a family friend who dressed up in tights and lost his family in a freak circus accident. This story exists in the post-Crisis and pre-New 52 world and tries to sandwich itself in-between a handful of issues of Batman and the seminal Judas Contract of New Teen Titans. Like, I'm not entirely sure how old Dick is here but the next thing we see, he's bunking in a motel because he's broke.

Readers can uncover the secrets of two superheroes in Batman: The Ultimate Guide to the Dark Knight by Scott Beatty and Spider-Man: The Ultimate Guide by Tom DeFalco. Nightwing: Year One introduces us to a character who will take a path different from the one of his mentor. However, Nightwing brings an attitude, style, and level of action to the comics that is very entertaining. In addition to his work in graphic novels, Chuck is currently writing two different series of action novels. A place for fans of DC's comics, graphic novels, movies, and anything else related to one of the largest comic book publishers in the world and home of the World's Greatest Superheroes!

He was always my favorite Robin and getting to see him come into his own as Nightwing just made me feel all warm and fuzzy. He is (along with artist Graham Nolan) the creator of the Batman villain Bane, the first permanent addition to the Dark Knight's rogues gallery in 40 years and for which he won 1993's Wizard Fan Award for best new character. In the stories from 1984, we see very little of Dick's thought process on why he chose his new identity. Like telling Robin that he's fired because he shows up late to help Batman due to taking down a villain with the Teen Titans.

This origin story also plants a few tasty seeds for readers to follow in other books: the Barbara/Grayson dynamic, Nightwing/Blüdhaven, and Jason Todd, which later leads into another major storyline that I won't spoil here. I. Joe for IDW, along with many creator-owned projects including Winterworld and Joe Frankenstein which re-unites him with Bane co-creator Graham Nolan. While he still believes in the Dark Knight's crusade, it's time for him to don a new uniform, a new name, and a new lifestyle. Overall a very good introduction to Nightwing and has left me wanting to see more of him, might have to get some Nightwing books after I’m done with Batman! Sorry I am geeking out about this post because you wrote shit that I have been preaching to my friends for years, but another person who really nailed the Superman/Nightwing relationship was Tomasi.

That may seem like a dumb little detail, but there is always a bubbling movement among the top guns of comics to reference only the really iconic mainstream-friendly stuff in their larger works, which for Dick Grayson means it would be easy for Morrison to act as if he shot straight from Robin to Batman and treat the middle years with vagueness, but flat out in the first issue he makes direct reference to Dick's time as a cop in Bludhaven, and that was just tremendous to me. I know that is not a major spoiler to some of us, but it was entertaining to see it happen in a different medium.
