and a lot of unfamiliar words from the time like pestilence, murrain, solar (but there’s also a glossary at the back). I confess I was a little disappointed by the author’s last two books (one in the Helen Grace series). Just like the way that Isabel describes the pestilence, All Fall Down will sniff its way around your body, it will slip itself under your skin and bury itself deep in your bones and your heart. So there is a potential bogeyman who has haunted the police, intrepid journalist Emma who is fascinated by the case and one of the survivors, Martyna, who wrote a book about the experience. Has this just put a mark upon all their heads and just why are some of the victims so reluctant for the truth to come out?

Adoro este autor e apesar de não ser o melhor livro que li de MJ Arlidge, achei-o bastante acima da média no género de thriller e gostei bastante da história e de todo o enredo. The constantly changing narrators make the pace snappy, other readers may find that they aren’t left alone with them enough to get to know them, but personally I found it drove the plot forward and made it an easy read-this is hopefully coming across as a compliment as I find some crime novels tend to over fill short chapters and somehow slow down the pace. The writing flows well, is addictive and Arlidge does a stellar job of maintaining a sense of tension throughout the duration of the compelling story.Isabel and her family live in a small village near York and rumours are rife that the pestilence is relentlessly making its way towards them.

The dramatic reveal that tips everything on its head, blindsiding not only the characters but the readers as well. Once you start you just won't want to put it down, as it's a brilliant read and a great addition to the series which is one of my favorites.Since King’s disappearance, there have been sporadic sightings of him over the intervening years and there is a possibility that he is still alive, roaming free, finally seeking his vengeance and looking to finish what he started all those years ago. Today those 4 are now living their own individual lives, some are moving on, some are successful entrepreneurs and some are profiting from their experience by writing a memoir of that tragic event.

Ms Chancellor shows Grace a picture of Dominic with her mother taken three days before her death, noting that he does not have the scar. She started to doubt even herself when no one took her proclamations seriously and I actually felt sad for her.
