About this deal

this book is perfect proof as to why i think people who get married to someone they have known less than six months are completely out of their minds. When he comes to commiserate with her, his guard is down and she slips sixteen crushed-up pills into his drink. I should thank Shelby for sending this to me, but I kind of feel like she April Fooled me a month late. As the truth of her marriage threatens to surface, Lucy seizes the opportunity to swap her house in London – and the stories it hides – for a rural escape to her parents’ farmhouse in the Chilterns. As I got near the end and the really tense final pages where the past catches up with the present, I literally could not stop until I finished the book, finally putting my light out at 1am!

From the outside Grace has it all, she is beautiful, slim, lives in a gorgeous house and she and Jack take regular holidays to glamorous destinations; but all is not as it seems. It was unbelievable that Jack could wield so much influence, but it worked for the storyline I suppose. It was crazily vivid, in my opinion, and the last three paragraphs sent literal chills down my spine.

This was a really well written book looking into teenage homelessness and how you never really know what’s going on in someone else’s life.

A tasty, if not always tasteful, tale of supernatural mayhem that fans of King and Crichton alike will enjoy. I went through a phase of reading Domestic Thriller/Suspense novels, and one of my absolute favourites was, and is, Behind Closed Doors.

Another sweltering month in Charlotte, another boatload of mysteries past and present for overworked, overstressed forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan. At its heart, Behind Closed Doors is a story of vulnerable young adults struggling with the universal and timeless issues of loneliness, friendships and growing up. From Grace’s perfectly fluffy souffles to Jack’s altruistic work as a lawyer for battered women, the couple is almost frustratingly perfect. Even if the story is about a married couple, the story doesn’t have any romance, which was fine by me.You’re hopelessly charmed by the ease and comfort of their home, by the graciousness of the dinner parties they throw. Even after one, I feel the overpowering need to hibernate for 12 hours under the covers, subsisting on a diet of Star Crunch and Cooler Ranch Doritos.

Behind Closed Doors” is a gripping, thought-provoking thriller with some psychological and mystery elements that will keep you at the edge of your seat. In this dark, psychological thriller, Georgia Maguire pushes listeners to explore the furthest limits of their moral codes. There isn't much mystery to speak of in this domestic thriller; its focus lies heavily on the struggle of our heroine and her desperate measures of combat.

This novel moves at a breathless pace … Miriam Halahmy successfully uses a light touch with this dark material. This history of house interiors in Georgian England is a sparkling and erudite work from one of our best historians. It isn’t a story with historic backstory set in the 1980s or 1990s, as often occurs, but we are shown Jack and Grace before their marriage, and in the early days of the marriage, as well as a year later. Behind Closed Doors by Catherine Alliott was published in hardback, audio, and eBook formats on 4 March 2021.
