About this deal

They could, virtually, meet their heroes, such as Brunel and Dickens, and they could enjoy current events at close quarters, such as the construction of Brunel’s Great Eastern ship on the banks of the Thames, the exhibition of the relics from Sir John Franklin’s disastrous expedition to find the North-West passage, or the celebratory visit to the UK of the legendary “General” Tom Thumb.

It is not just a collection of photographs of nature, people, pets, architecture, and more, but a tangible, dimensional assemblage that speaks to the evocative power of stereoscopic photography. In Brian May’s own words, and over 300 previously unseen 3-D photographs, this book is a series of glimpses of life with the rock band Queen, seen from the inside for the first time.WATCH VIDEO: There’s still time to get Brian May’s book of joy and beauty as a gift in time for Christmas! While the images in "Diableries" depict a fantasy world of skeletons and devils, they also convey a commentary on the political and social times of France at that time.

Even long after Queen had scored numerous hits and performed on some of the world's biggest stages, the band's success still amazes May. I've been working quite seriously in the studio putting things together a little bit in the style of the 'Made in Heaven' album. He’s publishing a new book and holding an exhibition of pictures that capture the world in incredible and immersive detail. The result was an avalanche of great material, and it was then a labour of love to choose the ones you will find here. I’m hoping this will lead to stereoscopy having a permanent home in London for the first time since the 19th century.SIGFY comes with an OWL Stereoscopic Viewer, designed by Brian, that does the job of transforming the stereoscopic pairs of images into magical in-depth 3-D. The exhibition also comprises stunning artwork from past LSC projects, as well as rare behind-the-scenes images depicting the legendary rock band Queen, captured by stereoscopic photographer, astrophysicist, rockstar, and animal activist, Brian May himself and first presented in his book, Queen in 3-D, which provides close-up glimpses of the band as never before seen. A lot of people go through almost their whole lives without realising they have this wonderful depth of perception.

The immersive realism of 3-D beckoned to them to experience the far-flung wonders of the world without ever leaving their fireside. South America delivered a lot of images for the book too, and there were lots from the US and Canada. The result is an extraordinary outpouring of emotion and creativity featuring Nature, their pets, architecture, people and much more. You need to keep a firm watch on the convergence of the images and now they are aligned to avoid straining the readers’ eyes. Viewed in the 21st century OWL stereoscope (included), the magical pictures, and the journey they represent, are revealed in their full depth and splendour.Through his personal Instagram and the LSC’s social media platforms, Brian invited stereoscopists everywhere to capture and share images of living under lockdown and beyond.

As soon as you look at them in the stereoscope, you're walking into a parallel universe of skeletons and devils.I have thought of some ways to make the process smoother but at the end of the day, you still have to sit and edit everything to the accuracy of a pixel. I encouraged people to capture in a 3-D photograph what hope they felt, what beauty they could find in that tough situation.
