Things I am less enamored by are the eye roll inducing puns and jokes that made parts of this book incredibly painful. You can read this as a stand alone but I recommend you read book one in this series, Heartbreak Hero, before reading this book. I kissed you because I really f-cking wanted to kiss you, and I couldn't stop myself from doing it for another second. As Sawyer and Sammy give in to their feelings, sparks fly, and feelings intensify as danger comes ever closer.Her ex was in jail for almost killing her brother and his woman, so she's back from the dead and trying to build her life. I have a hunch/hope of who the next story is going to be and if that’s the case I will say I’m going to have a hard time waiting until fall for their story. Sawyer and Sammy have great chemistry together and the attraction that is there from the beginning that I knew they were going to keep me flipping pages. However, when Leo said "Mommy" to Tasha, she did not suspect Leo was hiding something (which, in this case, were the nature of his missions and injuries). As a romantic suspense, there are a few moments of violence, including gun violence, related to the plot.

I honestly don't get the whole 'forbidden' aspect of dating your brother's friend, especially as these two didn't seem especially close.I liked how the characters acknowledged from early on that they both had feelings for eachother (and for a while as well from Sawyer’s POV, would have been interested to see when Sammy started developing feelings). The hackneyed phrases and sentences of this novel were excruciating to listen to and the narration was clumsy and emotionless. the dark time), Jackie was reading yet another laugh a minute rom-com by Lucy Score or Pippa Grant, and she thought to herself - hey, I can do that. When Sammy is kidnapped and the RedLeg gang take care of her, she and Sawyer spend a lot of time together.

Her traumatic history has shaped how she reacts to her environment, her relationships, and to her own feelings. This is a standalone novel, and while you don't have to read the first book in the series to enjoy it, I will say it definitely makes it even better if you have. This episode related to Crush, Chop and Burn but instead of Adam, Bree, and Chase leaving, it was Leo who was going to leave. I really really really really really dislike when the FMC does something stupid to get herself in trouble.When she is not writing funny stories about swoony heroes and the women who get to play with them, she is reading all types of romance novels or taking care of her army of cats and her teenage son (who also speaks fluent sarcasm). It is really hard to suspend disbelief when you read about private citizens armed to the teeth literally flash banging someone's apartment and disappearing them.
