Reviewing the Switch version, Koopman criticized the game for not properly informing the player that more activities and modes can be accessed in the individual minigames after the first playthrough of said minigame.The developers conducted surveys in America, Europe, and Japan to determine what activities to include in the game. The third resort, the Snow Resort, focuses on winter sports like ski jumping, snow tubing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, and snowball fighting. I have some amazing memories of just running around the open world with my brother in 2 player mode. Mark Reece of Nintendo Life said the minigames were not fun to play due to "a poorly conceived or unintuitive control scheme".

Some minigames require or allow for the use of different controllers and accessories, such as MotionPlus controller or the Balance Board. These and many other possibilities can be used to reach a higher level or to creatively style your own toy figure.

while I respect the reviewer for his opinion on this game, it's already been played a lot more than games that I own that have got a higher score so I personally would rate it a lot higher if you have a family. To be honest, I've enjoyed other games with far worse reviews than this; and yeah, even if it isn't that great, it will still be fun for the little one. For those not familiar with it (which is most people), Go Vacation has you visiting Kawawii Island (you’d have thought it’d be renamed Kawaswitch Island), a sort of isolated paradise made up of four very different holiday resorts: a beach, a city, a mountain and a snow resort. In the Switch version, players are able to find and take photographs of animals that are scattered across the resorts, and find boxes with rewards in them. In reviewing the game's soundtrack, Don Kotowski said the vocals in some of the music are "cheesy" and tend to "be a huge distraction that really hampers my enjoyment of the album".
