Humax DTR-T2100 500gb BT YouView Recorder Unit (Dual Tuner)
About this deal
When any youview box, including those not previously associated or obtained from BT, will do within a few hours of being connected to BT as an ISP, will change themselves to have BT livery, including the BT epg clutter. A small array of buttons on top means you can still control the basic functions if you lose the remote, and the remote itself is also new.
I can find references from owners saying that their DTR-T1*** models are OK for SD but haven't seen any for any of the DTR-T1*** models. I have repaired several of these boxes last one was a humax 9300t with a failed drive fitted a 128 gb ssd drive taken from an alienware laptop wiped partitions fitted into cradle formatted and away it went.
e. they won’t fully emerge from their rubber mounts and will stay under the metal shield but they will release the drive.
The full raft of Sky's catch-up channel services aren't available here, so no Entertainment package for those American aces such as Game of Thrones, for example.I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t slide the drive out after removing the screws and had to use a little more force than I was comfortable with. Possibly, although the drive from your Mac might not be compatible with the YouView box if it’s built to a different Apple spec.
They're the same connections as the old YouView box, so if you're swapping one for the other, it's literally a case of swapping the cables over and plugging it in. I noticed that scheduled recordings had stopped transferring across from the app, then that all scheduled programmes had gone from the list on the box, and also that even the pressing the Record button had no effect (although the blue light on the remote does come on). If it had been a HDD problem (other than a dead short), it would probably have started up in some way even if it then rebooted. An SSD might be quieter, however SSD’s only have a limited lifespan in terms of total gigabytes written to the disk.If your YouView box’s power settings are set to Smart mode then you can set the box to go into deep sleep after you go to bed to save power and pre-boot in the morning. Since retuning using aerial in/out to force it to retune from just one transmitter it has been very reliable for TV programmes.
Mappings for 3 different styles of keyboard to the various functions are available from the Youview support site. Depending on which these are, you may or may not be able to watch a third, different channel while recording two others. Once the menu is up you might need to do a factory reset with deleting the recordings to reformat the drive if it is not brand new. As soon as I got it connected using a sky WiFi adapter it updated the software and now I have a much darker screen and is clearer and brighter using the TV tuner. There's a record button, as well as a YouView EPG (electronic programme guide) button and a navigation controller.Annoyingly there’s no built-in Wi-Fi so you’ll have to use the Ethernet cable to connect the box to your router. The DN372T boxes are a different generation to the ones in the guide above so will work differently. We won't dwell too much on the nuts and bolts of what YouView offers, except where needed for clarity and completeness.
