About this deal

But what really sold this book to me was the romance, the spark between Meg and Justin, and the way their relationship develops throughout the book made my heart sing. Although honestly, I'd say I felt that at some parts (especially around the 60-75% sections), that they were perhaps *too available*to help her-- It sounds rather terrible of me to complain about reliable friends, but they were almost too-present to help should the need arise, given at such short notice and no matter the distance. They desperately want to improve the hotel by adding en-suite bathrooms and improving the decoration. Inevitably, there are all the dramas and misunderstandings that make the course of love run un-smooth, and they make the wonderful ending all the more heart-warming. Such that near the climax I just felt like we were just going through plot-point to plot-point without addressing the emotional beats alongside it.

It all added to the beauty of this book though, making it a great all round package and again has left me wanting more. Fforde never disapoints' Weekly'This is the perfect Mother's Day read' Take a Break'A joy of a read from Katie Fforde' That's Life'This enjoyable read will appeal to die-hard romantics' Heat Magazine____________Ever since she can remember, Meg has wanted to be a professional cook. Fortunately for Nightingale Woods, Meg arrives in the nick of time and recognises that the kind of charm this hotel offers is worth preserving, and she is not afraid to fight for its future.

Many of her friends, quite a few of whom I recognised from A Wedding in Provence, make appearances too and everybody is jolly lovely…. Then we have the wonderful eccentric permanent residence Ambrosine who has a past that could come in useful and Susan and all her relatives who seem to be working at the hotel in every role possible. You may recognise some familiar faces if you have read the earlier books, but this is a stand-alone story based around the delightful Nightingale Woods country house hotel. This is another one of Katie Fforde’s books that are set in the 19602, and like the previous 2 “A Wedding In The Country’ and “A Wedding In Provence”, it just doesn’t’ really work, and I really can’t just say why, but I think the main issue that it doesn’t have the sparkle and wit of Katie Fforde’s previous book. The sparks fly thick and fast from the moment of their meeting, but Fforde contrives a delicious story that makes your heart burst at the seams with joy.

Justin has divided loyalties, and he sees little prospect of a future for Nightingale Woods, but Meg has fallen in love with this little corner of rural heaven. v=1668085692","width":1523}],"requires_selling_plan":false,"selling_plan_groups":[],"content":"A Wedding in Provence is the second in a series of three about three girls who met on a cookery course in London. The new chef has sacked everyone and Louise, Meg’s mother, needs her daughter’s help, and she needs it NOW. One walk-on who didn’t say anything was randomly named Ted, and then we had Edward/Teddy mentioned later on who was a completely different but far more important person. As expected, there is a happy ending which ties everything together nicely - it was enjoyable to witness Meg's journey come full circle by the end of the book. Shame it doesn't seem to be the case for the owner's son, who firmly believes that women shouldn't be in charge of a professional kitchen at all.

Head back to Dorset in the 1960’s where Megs mother Louise invites her to the hotel she’s currently running.

But I had a niggling feeling that I’d missed out on some of the characters’ histories and back stories… and then I discovered that there were at least two other books written previously about the same group of friends. I have read a few Katie Fforde novels so was excited to be given the opportunity to read her latest release. When Meg meets the owner’s son, Justin, it is clear that he has already consigned the hotel to the rubbish heap. However, Meg is always up for a challenge, and despite the scary prospect of an impending gala dinner, she gets down to work. But my biggest bugbear was the number of characters in the story, and particularly when another boatload turned up for the finale/closing image.

End her relationship with Ryan, especially as through the window of the café, she spies a waiter who looks much more like her type of man. Meg hasn't got much professional training, but what she does have is passion, ideas and empathy, which endear her to the staff and guests alike. I’m also a sucker for any book that has a good enemies-to-lovers romance, and this one certainly delivered with the bumpy road to love between Meg and Justin. Overall a very good quality service from this seller and I would not hesitate to recommend this seller. The 1960s setting, and his ambivalent feelings towards his father, totally explains Justin's attitude to Meg and her mother, yet it is also quite clear to the reader fairly early on that Justin is also quite smitten by Meg and finds any excuse to visit the hotel. Go on treat yourself to a copy of this you won’t regret it, plus if you have a mum who likes this genre, Mother’s Day is coming up. The hotel is charming, a place I’d love to stay at with its welcoming and homely feel and beautiful location. Trouble is she is a woman in very much a man’s world and when the son of the owner Justin appears, he shakes Meg’s confidence to be able to produce anything edible.
