About this deal

The King’s Bride is a Fantasy Romance book with a second chance enemies to lovers romance and an arranged marriage between a demon king and a human princess that I loved! Most of that trope start off as enemies but by about halfway through they are just in love and the angst is gone. This is book 3 within a series - it is recommended to read the two previous books to gain some understanding of the plot and the characters within.

While this read did struggle a bit at times with pacing, I found the overall world and storyline to be fascinating. I do feel like I would have understood more references, lore and side characters if I’d read the others first, but I didn’t feel like it necessarily took away from this story. For all ebook purchases, you will be prompted to create an account or login with your existing HarperCollins username and password. I don’t know if I was the only one to feel like this with this book because I have read many third person narration before and it hadn’t bother me until now.The enemies to lovers but actual enemies story of “I’ve been raised and have come to kill you” has already come to pass as of the prologue. As their silent showdown begins, Delton and Xara realize that an uncontrollable passion simmers beneath all the bitterness. his character development and seeing him fall for xara and overcome his past mistakes and make things right was amazing to read about. Jökull is quite protective and possessive of his bride in a very typical alpha male way, and takes the trope “touch her you die” to the next level.

But to claim love—the ultimate victory—they must defeat the demons of the past and rise from the ashes. This well-crafted romantasy book showcases Beck's talent for storytelling and serves as a testament to her ability to create a compelling fictional realm. One day her bother is bitten by a warg, and the only way to save him is for Sunnëva to steal one of the God Kings Roses. This story is a adult fantasy which is built around arranged marriage/marriage with convenience, enemies to lovers telling the story of Delton and Xara. Side note :who knew I was such a big fan of chess 👀 that scene was immaculate I ate every single last crumb that this author handed out ! Delton does a horrible wrong to Xara, and she has dedicated her entire married life to revenge against him, so it takes a lot of building and making amends for the relationship to be believable. It was like sitting in a trap filled with smoke, rowdy people, and the rank smell of human flesh and animal dung. Learning should be something you appreciate and absorb with excitement, the way you do when studying science.

He then is taken by Jökull and his men to the woods where they hear him scream like a dying animal, meaning, he was killed. When Delton comes back into her life, sparks fly, but he doesn’t know that the wife he’s finally falling for is also his biggest enemy. The last 20% really wasn’t my favorite, Delton caved in so fast and I really wanted more groveling or something else to happen. i loved how honest Jökull was with her about his intentions from the beginning with no room for any miscommunication, how he trusts her, how he believes in her 🥺 if you can't tell already, i'm so in love with him. You are a young woman of good repute, fine breeding, and gracious nature, what better woman to sit on the queen's long empty throne?Special thanks to Myst Marshall for being an extra pair of eyes, editing all the stupid mistakes she caught that Alexis and I made! Small spoiler: when she is now 20 in the present her hair is dyed blonde by her step mother for the king she is supposed to marry but she has an allergic reaction to the sulfur in the dye and she uses makeup to cover it so he doesn't recognize her) Anyways whenever he interacts with her his attraction to her or when he softens up towards her is because she reminds him of said child (that child being her) and his attraction to her is not even based on her in the present it's because of her younger self which is. Rune being Rumiel shocked the hell out of me and it made me wonder if he is still out there in the present day, like, Dyna is fighting a demon, so it makes me wonder if he never really passed through his gate –Also, I am very interested in Rune as a character, I don’t really get him as a villain, I mean, I don’t understand why he wanted to rule over everything but his story is definitely one I want to get to know-. But thanks to a political issue, she’s back in his life, stirring up all the emotions that he’s tried so hard to suppress.

It all goes down the sink when Fenrin –the 18 year all brother- was discovered by his twin sister –Ansa- in the middle of the night almost dying because he was bitten by a demon. As time goes feelings develop and second chances are given , Delton finds himself falling for Xara whilst Xara has a huge secret to hideThis book ended with a HEA which I loved !

After marrying Xara to get revenge on her father, Delton exiled his new wife and spent almost a century away from her. After that Sunnëva is taken to the castle, introduced to some of the people that work for Jökull and then when she goes out of their room –where he fell asleep with her in the bed and she almost kills him but not really because nothing can really kill him because all blades break upon contact with his skin- encounters some creature that wants to kill her, Jökull saves her but then kisses her, losses control of his powers and nearly kills her because of this.
