This advent calendar is a perfect addition to the Friends world for Christmas, which is why it earns our 4/5 Stars (Recommended) rating. The construction was pretty fun, I do like the use of overlapping plates and trans-blue pyramids, and clear cheese slopes to give it that sparkly ice-sculpture look. I remember reading the Philosopher’s Stone when it first came out and have been enchanted ever since. Anyone who has ever picked up an Advent Calendar will know how relatively light they feel for the size of the box; there aren't a lot of parts, and a lot of the parts are going to be rather small.

I like the Christmas sock hanging from it, although I can’t help but think that it’s quite the fire hazard, especially from rogue embers. Day 11 of the Advent Calendar is a bit of a basic build to pad out the Yule Ball setting – a Fireplace! Given this calendar seems to be filling out the missing characters from the Clock Tower set with Harry, Ron’s, and Cedric’s dates to the Yule Ball. It looks great from nearly every single angle, and is quite possibly one of my favourite Advent Calendar builds ever.The calendar contains minifigures – including Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Padma Patil, Parvati Patil and Cho Chang – and buildable models, such as a miniature Beauxbaton’s carriage and a dining table with ice-castle centerpiece. Seeing that this is the second Harry Potter advent calendar we have seen I expect to see another one hitting the shelves next year! Fans of the Goblet of Fire/Year 4 are going to be delighted that we have more Book/Movie 4 references, and I love how it’s all coming together. The waffle in the waffle iron is a simple 1×1 tile with a finished waffle (a printed piece (3070bpr0205)) on a plate along with condiments. Together with the trees, it really feels like the Yule Ball is coming together, and I really like the design of the banquet table, and especially the great use of colours that contrast nicely against the white and transparent pieces.
