About this deal

in a refreshing change, each character has their own identity beyond this but the importance of the range of inclusivity is never lessened.

To save her new pal from a mortifying explanation to his ex, Haf plays along and agrees that yes, they are dating. Make You Mine This Christmas is the perfect festive romcom: hilarious, unexpectedly moving, and utterly heartfelt.huxley-jones’ prose is full of warmth and is enough to make anybody, including myself currently sitting writing this in a 30+ degree heatwave in england, crave christmas and all the magic that comes with it. Other than that - which is awesome obviously - it was full of the usual lovely tropes of this type of story and was enjoyably predictable. One of the main selling points of the book, for me as an autistic person, is that the main character has undiagnosed autism. Also the fake dating in this story is absolutely *chef’s kiss* and is quickly becoming one of my favorite tropes!

There's a lot of comedy here that could come off as cringe, but because all of the leads are so genuinely nice and earnest, actually just comes off as charming and quirky. Ambrose says that Haf's taste in men can be summarised as guys who might live like raccoons and are a bit grubby-hot, like Robert Pattinson now, or anyone from the Italian band that won Eurovision a few years ago. Rep: Haf is white, fat and bisexual and has face blindness, Kit is white and lesbian and is disabled (uses a walking cane), Christopher is white and bisexual, Ambrose is Chinese-British (please forgive me if I got this wrong, I scoured for concrete proof, but all I saw was "Lunar New Year" and their surname is Liew) and non-binary. The two hit it off, in a deeply platonic way, but quite a bit of booze makes them decide to kiss (awkwardly) under a piece of mistletoe anyway.

Also appreciated the brilliant Neurodivergent, Non-Binary and EDS/Hypermobility representation which is both blended in and accepted as the "norm" while simultaneously shining light on the issues that people within those minorities experience, especially as this is a romance. I’ve been a fat person for much of my life – I can remember being told to go on a diet aged 8, and I had a tricky relationship with food for a long time. I have not reviewed a book before but felt the need after listening to a book that is absolute perfection. I don't remember the last time I laughed so much at a book, or kept on laughing inbetween reading as I remembered the utter chaos.

The premise of fake dating someone and attending their family Christmas is completely out there and I loved it. Available after September 30th, 2023)'Joyous, funny and full of warm, relatable characters, this is the queer Christmas rom-com I've been waiting for' -- LAURA KAYIt's the golden rule of pretending. Haf and her new friend Christopher end up fake dating and spending christmas at his parents house in Oxlea. I had a lot of fun reading this romance that actually contains a good deal of situation comedy, including a hilarious mishap at the local Christmas fete.

Ich mochte nicht nur die romantische Anziehung zwischen Haf und Kit, sondern auch, wie viel Platz andere Freundschaften eingenommen haben.
