HH fly sheet - withstands the most intense weather conditions. The tent and groundsheet seams are all fully taped. All the material used is fire retardent and tested to meet the EN 5912 European safety standard. Both doors have fine mesh screens. This will keep the bugs out while stillngiving heaps of ventilation. The porch on the side door keeps the rain out so keeping it open and using the mesh screen will work well on a wet day. Relative to their poled cousins, an air tent is generally heavier. Not really an issue unless you have a long way to carry it. This is alleviated by the wheeled bag that the tent comes with. Size The tent is nicely ventilated. There is a large vent on the rear side, one high vent is under the porch, and two high vents are above the side windows. There is one low vent on the side behind the sleeping area. All of them are visible in the pictures.
This is where an air tent shines. A peg in each corner and out with the pump. A few pumps and not much effort later all the “beams” are inflated. It’s then just a matter of pegging out the guylines. Easily less than 10 minutes. Dropping your tent is a simple matter of releasing the air valves and it just collapses. No poles to unthread from their sleeves. Wind resistance and stability
The end, or front, door has a zip down each side and rolls up to the top to stow out of the way when open. The side door has a C shaped zip and rolls up to one side when open. It takes approx 12 pumps for a beam to inflate – less than 1 minute for each.
Regarding seasons & climate, I have no doubt that this tent can be used in all seasons. It is enclosed with its solid windows and zippered doors panels, so this is great for a cooler environment. It is also nicely ventilated for a warm weather camping. You can buy a footprint that goes under the tent to protect it. This is a groundsheet that is cut to be exactly the right size and shape for this tent. It comes with its own pegs and a bag. A great way to protect your investment.Once the tent footprint is pitched and your tent is erect, you can focus on creating extra comfort inside for you and all your family with a tent carpet. Adding this extra layer can transform your tent because of its extra layer of insulation and extra protective lining underneath that keeps the chill out at night. This is the real strength of an inflatable tent and the Berghaus Air 4 is no slouch in this department. The fabric: The shell is a polyester with an impressive waterproof rating of 6000 mm, and with fully taped seams. The inner tent is a breathable polyester. The material is dark to reduce light, but this is not a dark rest tent. The picture below shows its floor plan and some dimensions, so you can have some idea of what it offers. The blue area on the right is its inner tent with a removable divider. The divider is sewn-in to the roof and you have toggles to roll it up. The outer tent is made from a blue 70 denier fabric with a a 6000mm Hydrostatic head rating and all seams are taped. This is not a flimsy toy tent. It’s extremely waterproof and strong. There is also a carpet for the main living area. A good addition that protects the floor and makes it warmer in the winter. The 400XL sleeps 4 people but is a much bigger version than the Berghaus Air 400 Leave it for a few minutes for the air to escape and roll up.
