About this deal

One fictional hero whose murky inspirations, while populated with the likes of Hercules and Mercury, does have a very stable definitive father figure. The son is Superman. The daddy would be Gladiator. Siegel and Shuster the midwives? Tortured metaphors are now my superpower. However, I do feel like I should point out that this book has many various sources were as usually books of this kind follow one or two sources rather than multiple various ones. It is definitely a book that I would recommend to someone who doesn't mind their reading being broken up by quotes or pictures. But I should warn that this book may not be for younger readers as it does have some graphic descriptions of sex, drugs, murder etc. dit verhaal best wel origineel want ik heb niet heel veel boeken gezien en/of gelezen dat zich afspeelt in de Romeinse tijd. The hardcover novel was first published by New York City, New York's Alfred A. Knopf in 1930, with book club editions that same year from Book League Monthly.

The story surrounds Marcus a ten-year-old Roman who lives with his mother and father, a retired Centurion, on a remote farm. The description of the book says Marcus was "recruited" as a gladiator. It's a much sadder story than that. Seriously, considering they were all slaves, was anyone actually "recruited" as a gladiator? Professor Danner is fascinated by animals that can lift multiple times their weight, jump multiple body heights and lengths, etc. He perfects a serum that can achieve that, and the incident with the cat has some humorous bits.

Right from the beginning of the novel, I had to respect young Marcus as he helped out on his family's farm and later when they started having problems. You just had to love the character of the little boy fighting alongside his father as best he could. Then later as a gladiator in training how he would handle being bullied by older boys. His determination to right the wrong done to his family, in one so young was just unbelievable. Learning as much as he can so he can be the best gladiator possible no matter how much it hurt, no matter how tired he got was inspiring. So its a superhero story, or rather THE superhero story, i can't stress how bizarre this is to read as being from 1930 its essentially inventing the superhero genre but its also a deconstruction of the superhero. Porque a través de la vida de su protagonista, recorre la historia de la formación del actual Estados Unidos. One of the Characters I found interesting in 'Fight for Freedom' was Marcus Cornelius Primus because at the start his father was confronted be a tax collector's thug and so marcus decided to train his dog, his best and only friend into a guard dog, a fierce and killer dog. i found that interesting because i don't think i would do something like that but his dog was still killed along with his father.
