About this deal

Each character has their own specific challenge to confront, Whether it be a secret from the past or a current adversary. Every one of the characters is likeable and intriguing. Each offers a potential answer for the secret, which is the thing that keeps us speculating and enjoying. Colbie and Jess has a pact of not dating anyone during high school, Jess not only broke it, but lied about it. She is dating Caden for four months and only told Colbie now. She is obviously hurt when Caden tells her he had sex with her friend because she taught they had just starts going out, then he finally spits the truth about how long they were together. I enjoyed this book for the most part. It centers on Rachel and Ed, who see their daughter Gemma get shot right in front of them on her graduation day. As Gemma fights for her life in a coma, secrets that all 3 of them were keeping come to light. You also get some chapters narrated by the private investigator, Matthew, who I actually liked more than all of the other characters in the book.

Third Read - I still really love this book but I feel like every time I read it I hate her family and Jess more and more lolColbie family is formed by her parents and six male simblings, she is the middle kid and the only girl. She isn’t into football and her whole family is crazy about it. They treat her like she doesn’t exist so she always tries to be perfect so they can notice her the same way they do with her brothers. Her parents are super duper supportive of the guys and always attended their games all the while they never once went to one of her piano’s recital. She only had her younger brother and her best friend until Eli showed up. I want to express my sincere thanks to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster Ca for this utterly compelling ARC. The plot was bonkers but unputdownable and very entertaining. I neglected everything to read it one day. The writing was clear and concise and kept me in suspense throughout. All of the characters were flawed and unlikeable, but I was drawn into their emotional state and their fear. Told from the alternating POV’s of the parents, Vivian (Viv) and Thomas, and their teenaged children, Eli and Tarryn. When Colbie walked into her honor's English class, and taken her seat a little bit late. She never expected to be reprimanded by her new teacher Dr. Eli Paxton. Nor for him to be so young and so good looking. Their first meeting did not go well. Dr. Paxton informed his new student, that just because he was her oldest brother Caleb's best friend, she shouldn't expect any favoritism. His not knowing that she had been an over-achiever all her life. Nor that she had no clue that he had played football with Caleb & been his roommate for four years. As an added insult that Eli would be a groomsmen in her brother's upcoming wedding. She herself was excluded from the wedding party.

Eli is the new guy in town and Colbie’s new English teacher. Their first meeting did not go that well, but as time went on these two grew closer. There was certainly an instant attraction but being her teacher they both had to put those feelings aside. Until they no longer could. Eli was everything that Colbie needed but never expected. And I think the same goes for Eli. He sees her in a ways that no one else does. He sees through her and sees the pain that she is carrying with her. He wants to be there for her and help her, even though he knows that he is crossing a line or two. But despite the obstacles they face, these two can’t stay away from each other./. There is a bond and connection that cannot be broken. Being together comes with a big risk, but is it one they are both willing to take?

I Am Watching You

Grab a girlfriend and some popcorn. Some of us look forward to these endearing psychologically savvy stories—a little overly dramatic —that cuts close to the truth of possibilities. We are left guessing as to who is the criminal - is it Gemma's jilted boyfriend (Alex), is it Ed's unstable ex-spouse, is it Gemma's creepy tutor, is it the strange woman who appeared from time to time to unnerve Rachel or is it someone else on the periphery...? Overall, it’s a good read although a bit uneven. I really like this series but it can very easily be read as a standalone.

A gripping psychological thriller from the bestselling author of I Am Watching You. The perfect family? Or the perfect lie? Eli Paxton was all sorts of delicious and despite him allowing their relationship to bloom, he was indeed a stand-up man. His ability to see through her and give her the love she has always needed superseded any technical rule breaking that happened throughout their relationship. I patted Colbie's tight. "Babe, why don't you go answer that and then get coffee for everyone?" She needed something to do besides fidget. The only aspect that kept this one from being a solid 5 star read for me was the improbability of a couple of the reveals (where characters discovered or told each other their secrets). Everything fell a little bit TOO neatly into place at times, but if you can quiet that voice of reason, this is such a fun ride from beginning to end! I also was a little miffed by the ending, because it was one of those endings that COULD hint at a sequel...but probably doesn't, so it just felt like Harding didn't quite know how to end it and just went with it, leaving the true ending in the mind of the reader. I'm all for this device, but I didn't really feel this story NEEDED a continuation per se, so I could have lived without it in this case. I love how Robyn Harding tells a story. Everything was revealed in a way that held my attention and had me saying just one more chapter again and again. While I may not have loved all the characters, they were well-written and I was invested in seeing how things would turn out for them all. It’s their daughter’s graduation and Rachel and Ed Hartley are expecting it to be one of their family’s happiest days. But when she stumbles and falls on stage during the ceremony, a beautiful moment turns to chaos: Gemma has been shot, and just like that, she’s fighting for her life. Teresa writes women’s fiction as well as thrillers and her work has been optioned for film and sold for translation in more than 20 territories. Thomas and Viv Adler are the envy of their neighbors: attractive, successful, with well-mannered children and a beautifully restored home. I smiled ( great choice). Harding knew that readers were so familiar with “Educated”, mentioning the authors name, Tara Westover, wasn’t even necessary.
