About this deal

Joshua Sinclair has lived his life embracing and being one of the biblical Four Horsemen since his mother’s death pushed his father into a grief induced belief that his four sons were the Apocalyptic Four Horsemen from The Book of Revelations. Joshua was deemed The Horsemen of War and was raised to live and breathe all things war. After a disagreement with his older brother Cain, at the end of Book 1 Highland Conquest Joshua sets out on his own for some soul searching or hell raising-whichever he finds first. I am new to Heather McCollum, but I must say I am impressed! I thoroughly enjoyed the style of her writing, and loved all of the different elements she was able to incorporate into this book. It was funny, sensual, serious when it needed to be, and just had a really nice overall feeling to it.

Happy Dancing* Oh dear Reader, I am sooooo excited that Heather McCollum has returned to her Sons of Sinclair series! These four brothers have been raised by their father believing they are nonother than the four Horseman of the Apocalypse, and each of their stories thus far have matched the hero with a lover that is off the charts in chemistry, and offers them a happily ever after they never dared dreamed to receive. “Love was risky. It could tear one apart, but it could also build one into a mountain of strength. It made life sweeter, brighter, and so worth living.” I love you. I need you to know that. I could not imagine the pain of dying without being able to tell you what I have only now discovered in my heart.” To get away from her brother, to save herself from ever getting married, to get away from all men in general because they're scary? All of the above? It's really not super clear what her actual motivation is. At this point, Gabriel kind of gives up and leaves Maggie alone for a week. Then, one day, the healer randomly comes to see him and tell him that Maggie is such a sweet girl, and that she's not really mad. Number one, not one single thing has yet to happen in this entire book to show that Maggie has a single sweet bone in her body. Number two, the healer's diagnosis is based entirely on his opinion that her eyes don't look crazy. It was great to get reacquainted with all the other characters again but like said, I would have like a little bit more of a recap at times. I also felt like I should have read Angus: A Highland Warrior Brief first, although I think some key secrets are revealed in the short. Either way I'm definitely going to read it soon. Joshua Sinclair was War incarnate, the second Horseman of the Apocalypse…at least that was what his father raised him to believe. Growing restless, Joshua leaves his home and Clan Sinclair behind to seek out those in need of his talents to train men for battle. But this fierce warriors world is about to turn on it’s axis when he stumbles upon a Norse beauty and queen of her people who offers him a night of pleasure that in turn becomes a temptation to help break her people free from the tyranny of the Stewarts. Bhric soon discovers that his wife is nothing like he believed her to be. She is more fearless than he expected. When he realizes someone or something is out to harm her, he will stop at nothing to keep her safe. He cannot lose her, not now when he finally realizes he loves her. I didn't think I could love this book as much as the first one.. Joshua was not my favorite person at the end of the last book.. and boy was I wrong. Heather McCollum did an amazing job of turning in to a person we could all root for. They are an unlikely pair not suited at all for each other. Or are they? While Tavia does the best to make the most of her marriage things start happening at her new home that people find strange. Soon, whispers begin to circulate that Tavia has brought evil with her and that she has bewitched Lord Bhric. She gathers the courage she never believed she had and sets out to solve problems she fears may have followed her to her new home.

McCollum weaves fact and fiction together wonderfully in Highland Warrior. She also manages to keep this book moving at a fast pace despite the heavy topics and the threat Kára and her people are under – not an easy feat. I truly wasn’t sure how Kára and Joshua would make it out alive and though I won’t spoil it I will say McCollum made the ending feel earned. I finished Highland Warrior a well-satisfied reader and I’m looking forward to seeing what is coming for the next two Sinclair brothers. The story starts with Bree finding an old dug up grave, and she just loves old graves (don't we all... uh, no). Inside the grave is a wooden coffin that contains an old skeleton. Whoever the dead man was, he is wearing a kilt and light colored shirt, just like what Faelan was wearing when she discovered him in the Time Vault. Bree & Faelan mistakenly come to conclusion that it's Tavis, Faelans younger brother, and begin preparing his funeral. I think what made this book just so intense though was funnily enough the demons! I loved that even though they are the bad guys the author made them almost good! Demons are bad and yet the ones in this story are just so interesting. It's a wild ride that we go on with poor Tavis traveling forward in time but not knowing quite what his purpose is. Anna's timely intervention makes all the difference but I think this is were some readers might flinch. There's a scene between these two that will have you screaming No! A romance is brewing between them but it's not starting off on the best footing! You have been warned. Romance Safety Gang: Graphic steam starts off early on here. Joshua can't seem to say no to such an easy, tempting offer of no strings smex with a willing bonny woman like Kara. She's been a widow for a long time so Joshua's strapping body made it easy for her to decide to seduce him into staying to help. He still seems set on leaving though. OM in her clan has been pushing her to marry him so they can rule together. She's repeatedly turned him down in the past. No OW drama. Kara Flett desperately needs Joshua's help. She needs his help to train her people to fight against the mighty Stuart's. Robert Stuart and his sons have taken everything from Kara's people and that includes food, horses, and women. The problem is the people don't know how to fight so if Kara can get Joshua to stay and train her people they will at least have a fighting chance.Overall, again, it works. It's an easy, solid romance. Nothing too exciting. But nothing wrong with it either. Of course, the story wasn't all laughs, Gabriel was soon to realise that perhaps Maggie wasn't as mad as she made out, and when he is proven right he doesn't have to stop the feelings of lust that he feels towards her. Feelings which are absolutely mutual. The passion between them is perfect and makes for many a steamy scene. More serious aspects of the story come when Maggie's brother calls upon him to take up arms in his plight to overthrow Robert the Bruce, and when he finds out truths about his new brother-in-law. But I don't want to say anymore, spoilers and all that. Of course, now Maggie thinks she was wrong about thinking that she was wrong about him. She's all shivery and they worry she'll die of cold, so of course they have to do the good 'ole "get naked and warm you up with my body thing".

Glen Coe is a valley in the northern part of Bute in Strathclyde. Even today in winter Glen Coe is a bleak place, and it was here in February 1692 that 37 MacDonalds were murdered by their guests, a company of Campbell militia. Opinion is divided on Haig’s martial qualities. For many ‘Butcher Haig’ was the donkey whose criminally unimaginative leadership led to the slaughter of almost two million British lions at Ypres, Passchendaele and the Somme, where the British army sustained the highest casualties in its history. Yet US General John Pershing lauded Haig as ‘the man who won the war’ through tactics that were unavoidable and eventually forced the Germans to surrender, avoiding further bloodshed. At the time of his state funeral in 1928 he was widely seen as a great general to rank alongside Wellington The story keeps you on your toes wondering what is going to happen next, I have to say I loved Tavis, he was both hard and sweet. I loved Anna as well, she was strong, always trying to get things done. Of course Tavis and Anna together was heart pounding. I enjoyed the banter between everyone, I think it connects you more to the story.

Her hasty proposition falls completely by the wayside, though, as she and the Highlander come together in a carnal inferno. But bringing him into her life also brings his enemies to her clan’s doorstep—the very clan Kára is trying to protect. And as their feelings deepen, Joshua will have to decide between duty and love once and for all. Stevenson, David (1980). Alasdair MacColla and the Highland problem in the seventeenth century. Donald. ISBN 9780859760553. Joshua has changed alot in this book, after a battle that left him feeling hollow he has decided that fighting isn't the only option. What I find even more interesting in this book is the fact that it took me a while to figure out who the amnesia man was. With all the reading I do I almost always guess early and exact, so though this was a frustration for me I was intrigued and on a quest to solve the mystery. Colonel Sir Archibald David Stirling was a 6ft 6in Scottish aristocrat and mountaineer who believed small teams of highly-trained raiders could inflict more damage than entire platoons, and founded the Special Air Service (SAS) in 1941. Riding shotgun on adapted US Jeeps armed with machine guns from planes, Stirling’s SAS stormed Rommel’s airbases at night, destroying 250 aircraft, hundreds of vehicles, supply dumps and railway communications in 15 months. Eventually captured, he was held in Colditz. Field Marshal Montgomery said he was ‘mad, quite mad’.
