About this deal

Please use the Video clips on the PowerPoint to carry out the fitness activities 9:00am – 9:30am – Have fun! Learning about birthdays and important celebrations around the world is a part of children's ‘Understanding the World’ early learning goal. There are loads of fun ways to teach a birthday topic in EYFS. Having a celebration when one of your children has a birthday is a great way to make them feel valued as part of your group. Plus, every child can have fun, get involved, and learn a little more about this important celebration.

Online Safety Following on from the internet safety day, here are some activities you can get your child to do, to help promote online safety. You can also make a birthday display board for your space! Use some Months of the Year on Birthday Presents to split it into months and show when each child in your EYFS group has a birthday. Then they can see their own, and understand that others have birthdays where they get to have a special day too! It's a lovely way to teach about sharing and celebrating everyone equally. The resources in this collection can be a big help for understanding norms like birthday parties, decorations, and invitations as you teach a birthday topic. EYFS children can learn about these traditions in a whole host of ways. You can decorate with banners for a fun visual difference in your learning environment. You can get children involved in making decorations! Having them Colour in Their Own Balloons for example is great fine motor skill practice, and they get to make a decoration that you can use in a beautiful display. How can I teach a birthday topic at EYFS? Children can choose a few toys to invite to a ‘birthday tea’ and perhaps wrap up some boxes for presents as well. Whose party will it be? Children might like to choose one toy to be the guest of honour. Make party invitations From Wednesday 6th January, your child will be given new Bug Club books every fortnight. Please encourage your child to read the books and complete the comprehension questions.

We will upload a PowerPoint which will cover an aspect of the topic and their will be tasks for the children to complete. The PowerPoint will be changed every week, and your child’s class teacher will talk through the PowerPoint during the class zoom session.Kipper gets in a muddle with ‘yesterday’, ‘today’ and ‘tomorrow’. Use the template and make a ‘yesterday’, ‘today’ and ‘tomorrow’ chart. Your child can write what they did or plan to do in each section: Yesterday I… today I ….tomorrow I … Your child can tell you the story in their own words using the pictures to help them. Watch the story Read the story aloud, pausing sometimes to talk about what is happening and what children think might happen next. Talk about the story Talk about how children think Kipper felt when his friends didn’t arrive. Why do children think his friends come on the wrong day? Kipper tries to spell all the words in his invitations and gets lots of them right or nearly right. You may want to talk abouthow important it is to have a go even when you are not sure how to spell every word. Tell the story English This week’s key text is Kipper’s Birthday, please read the story with your child before completing the activities.
