About this deal

The Galaxy S5 is best seen as a refinement of the Galaxy S4, as both share a very similar outward appearance. The S5 has slightly bolder curves than the S4’s flowing corners, but sat side-by-side they look almost identical. A metal effect bezel surrounds both handsets, although the dimpled, rubberised rear cover on the S5 feels classier than the S4’s glossy finish.

Installation or replacement of any parts should only be done by a trained or qualified technician. iParts4u can not be held responsible for any damage or mistake caused during or after installation. The S5 Mini may only have an 8-megapixel camera, but our photos were very detailed and had very natural colours However, unlike the Alpha, the S5 Mini is IP67 certified, which means it’s protected against dust and can survive being dunked in up to a metre of water for 30 minutes. Best of all, Samsung’s managed to do this without covering the microUSB port with a cheap plastic flap, which is something that made charging the original S5 a bit of a pain. DISPLAY

The Galaxy S5 has a 5.1in display, meaning Samsung has increased the screen size of its flagship smartphone for the fourth time in a row. It might only be slightly larger than the Galaxy S4’s 4.99in screen, but because both use the same 1,920×1,080 Full HD resolution it means the newer phone actually has a lower pixel density: 432ppi versus the S4’s 441. In practice, however, there’s no visible reduction in sharpness or clarity, and it’s still impossible to see individual pixels with the naked eye.

Update: Phones have gotten bigger, it’s fair to say – especially if you’re a fan of Samsung. Handsets start at 5in, and the S6 and S7 didn’t get their own “mini” versions, leaving the Galaxy S5 Mini the last small (sort of) flagship Samsung produced. Assuming you can find one in 2017 (most places have retired it), is it worth owning?Fingerprint (front-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer, gesture, heart rate WHERE pr.product_id = p.product_id AND pr.customer_group_id = '1' LIMIT 1) AS reward, ( SELECT ss.name The S5 Mini wasn’t able to run Epic Citadel at our usual Ultra High Quality setting either, so we had to settle for running our benchmarks on High Quality instead. On this setting, it managed a very smooth average of 53.7fps. This is promising for anyone who likes playing more demanding games on the move, but graphical fidelity was disappointing. No, is the short answer. As you’ll see from Katherine’s original review below, the S5 Mini was significantly less powerful than the phone it was based on. Nearly three generations of phone later, that gap is more insurmountable now than it ever was.

WHERE p.weight_class_id = wcd.weight_class_id AND wcd.language_id = '1') AS weight_class, ( SELECT lcd.unit The S5 coped equally well indoors and in low-light, thanks in part to a bright LED flash. Again, colours were vibrant and detail was exceptional given the lighting, so it should be able to handle any nightclub or dingy pub but still clearly capture your friends. Unsurprisingly noise levels jump up as soon as light begins to drop, so the flash becomes more crucial for very low-light shooting. It only uses a single LED, rather than the HTC One (m8)’s True Tone dual-flash, so colours can appear less true to life, but only marginally so. Things improve further when you enable the High Dynamic range (HDR) mode. It evens out images, finds detail in grey skies and produces lifelike colours. Even better, the HDR effect is rather subtle – unlike the overblown HDR seen on the HTC One (m8). Please try to handle the repair or replacement work in a dry and dust free environment without direct sunlight.WHERE r1.product_id = p.product_id AND r1.status = '1' GROUP BY r1.product_id) AS rating, ( SELECT COUNT(*) AS total Inside, the S5 Mini takes a more radical departure from the Qualcomm-powered Galaxy S5 we got in the UK. That handset used a2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 chipset, while the Mini uses one of Samsung’s own quad-core 1.4GHz Exynos 3470 processors instead. While the Exynos 3470 is perfectly fast enough to run Android 4.4.2 and Samsung’s customised TouchWiz interface, the phone’s web browsing performance was much slower than we were expecting.
