About this deal

While Seerah Of Prophet Muhammad is a collection of tales concerning specific incidents in the prophet’s life. At later periods, certain type of stories included in sīra developed into their own separate genres. One genre is concerned with stories of prophetic miracles, called aʿlām al-nubuwa (literally, "proofs of prophethood"—the first word is sometimes substituted for amārāt or dalāʾil). Another genre, called faḍāʾil wa mathālib — tales that show the merits and faults of individual companions, enemies, and other notable contemporaries of Muhammad. [2] Some works of sīra also positioned the story of Muhammad as part of a narrative that includes stories of earlier prophets, Persian Kings, pre-Islamic Arab tribes, and the Rashidun. His name is Muhammad Ibn Ishaq, and he was born around 85 AH and died around 150 AH. He was born and lived in Medina in a very early period. He grew up with the children and the grandchildren of the Sahaba. There are Sahaba who lived up until around 110 AH.

To understand the Seerah, you do not begin with the birth of the Prophet (ﷺ). Instead, you must start with the world at that time. That is why every book of Seerah, from the most classical books to the modern ones, has introductory sections.

In this blog, we’ll highlight the meaning of Seerah and some benefits of studying Seerah. What is Seerah? This app features the award-winning book on the Biography of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ Ar-Raheequl Makhtum or Sealed Nectar by Sheikh Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarkpuri.

Ans: The primary sources include the Al Quran, Hadith collections, Seerah books from early Muslim scholars, and books written about the characteristics of the Prophet. Seerah lifts our spirits and instills love in the hearts of the Muslim community all around the world. To put it another way, it inspires us to love and care for Muslims who live far from our current location.Even though the Arabs would call Seerah the biography of any person, later on, Muslim scholars used it exclusively for the biography of the best human being. So no scholar says Seerah, except that it means the biography of the life and times of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and incidents that happened during his time. We can learn a lot from the Prophet’s life, and apply those lessons in our own lives. For example, he would introduce himself first whenever he met new people; he used to say Salam, and greet them very politely. Another lesson that we can learn from the Seerah is that of patience. He (PBUH) showed us that the best way to lead one’s life was to strike a balance between Deen and Dunya. He did not neglect Dunya — he took care of his family and loved them immensely, he would go to the market to earn a living, etc. Many people think that Seerah and Sunnah are the same, but that’s not true. Sunnah is technical and it involves only excerpts from Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) life. It consist of narrations from his life and includes what he said, did and approved of. Seerah Of Prophet Muhammad was more frequently known as Maghazi (literally, narratives of military expeditions) in the first two centuries of Islamic history, although this is generally regarded to be just a subset of Seerah, one that involves Muhammad’s (PBUH) military operations. Seerah Of Prophet Muhammad For Kids What Are Hadith and Seerah?

The gentleness and tranquility of the Prophet Mohammed, as stated in the Holy Quran, is what made him so tremendously strong, and serves as a reminder to us all of the power of love, peace, and quiet strength. Sirat Rasul Allah, also known as as- sira al-nabawiyya, refers to the study of Muhammad’s life. The term seerah was initially associated with Muhammad’s life by Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri and was soon adopted by Ibn Hisham’s writings. Seerah is full of stories of trials, triumphs, and interactions that are still relevant today. The challenges that Rasulullah ﷺ faced and how he dealt with them can guide us in similar situations now. If one storyteller should happen to mention a raid, the next storyteller would know the date of this raid, while the third would know everything that an audience might wish to hear about. [13] In the case of Ibn Ishaq, there are no earlier sources we can consult to see if and how much embroidering was done by him and other earlier transmitters, but, Crone argues, "it is hard to avoid the conclusion that in the three generations between the Prophet and Ibn Ishaq" fictitious details were not also added. He wrote letters replying to inquiries of the Umayyad caliphs, Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan and al-Walid I, involving questions about certain events that happened in the time of the Prophet. Since Abd al-Malik did not appreciate the maghāzī literature, these letters were not written in story form. He is not known to have written any books on the subject. [6]
