One thing I could not wrap my head around what that this was in London. I am from London myself however most romance books i've read are set in the states so imagining a British accent was strange for me but at least I knew what everything in the book looked like. St James Park being mentioned felt surreal. Amazing park if you decide to come to London for a trip. Other than that, I absolutely adored this book. In a way, generational trauma is quite evident in this book, history repeated itself often, and Warren did a great job at describing how different relationships affected both the people in them and those who were close to the people in said relationships. Simone Warren's narrative is a true testament to the indomitable human spirit. Her ability to navigate through heartbreak and depression, while revisiting her past, is a lesson in courage and self-healing. The author's transition from surviving to thriving is a powerful reminder that our paths are not determined solely by our circumstances, but by the strength we find within ourselves. C. A. Castle is a writer and editor. He holds a BA in English Language and Literature from King's College, London, and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, where he focused on nineteenth- and twentieth-century literature, period adaptations and queer studies. He is also a picture book author and an anthologist, where he contrasts the old with the new to capture the zeitgeist. He currently resides in Cambridgeshire. She added: “Years of ‘saving face’ took their toll, leaving my trauma unhealed and eating away at me.

That was, until decades of unending stress finally reached breaking point last year, resulting in a medical emergency. I tried to carry on as before but couldn’t do it any longer. I took my first day off work in 17 years, and that turned into three months signed off with stress.”

The Fate We Make: Heartbreak is the story of Simone’s resilience, healing journey, and push to end generational trauma with her to create a better future for her kids. It was, then, in my cultural DNA to soldier on and ‘grin and bear it’, attempting to subjugate my own needs for the ‘greater good’, suppress the pain, and carry on regardless.

We are delighted that Charlie is coming to the shop to launch his gorgeous new book ‘The Manor House Governess’. This book is so much more than just a memoir; a story telling the story of someone’s life, struggles, highs & lows from their perspective. Rich in history, we learn so much about Singaporean Chinese culture and customs. I soaked up all the history in this fabulous book – all the pictures, diagrams, maps, and so much more add another layer to this book that makes it so much more personal. I fully enjoyed this book. This first volume of a trilogy is a poignant exploration of finding one's voice amidst the weight of societal expectations and unforeseen tragedy. Simone's story becomes a beacon of hope, showing that even in the face of heartbreak and depression, redemption is attainable. As a senior director in the technology industry, Simone's journey resonates deeply, showcasing her resilience in the face of adversity and her determination to rise above life's unexpected obstacles. Turns out he'll inherit the father's empire as long as he gets marries within the next month. I agree to work as his assistant and interview the women who apply for the position. But Knight hates every one of them. If you are a follower of the effects of generational trauma, this book will interest you very much. Add to that trauma in the current time, and a heart searching for what is right for her and knowing that might be going against everything she was raised and taught to do, creates even more trauma. She continued: “As I write about in The Fate We Make, I was brought up with the firm belief that you had to keep your problems to yourself, and that to do otherwise was a social taboo.
