About this deal

I’ve long been fond of this sequence, and it was quite difficult to cut from the book. (In the anthology itself, I’ll explain why we eventually decided that the sequence needed to go.) I do have to warn you that-unlike River of Souls, which we consider canon to events in the Wheel of Time—this as-of-yet untitled sequence is NOT canon. You’ll want to read it in the same way you’d watch an unfinished, alternate film scene that ended up not being used. River of Souls,” the forthcoming Wheel of Time short story featured in Unfettered is a collection of scenes that illustrate Demandred/Bao the Wyld’s story leading up to A Memory of Light. However, Grim Oak press (and Shawn Speakman, who runs it) has continued the Unfettered anthologies—the income of which is used to help pay medical fees for authors and artists in need. I thought the arrival of the third anthology would be a great chance to use this other deleted scene. (Which involves Perrin traveling into the Ways.) Harriet has graciously agreed to let it be published, so I’m thrilled to be able to announce its inclusion in the anthology. Egwene fights Taim and comes close to shielding him, but he balefires the shield and Travels away using the True Power.

The unfinished book was split into three volumes because it was believed a single volume would be too large to print. [7] Initially it was planned that all three would be titled A Memory of Light, with distinct subtitles; eventually this plan was dropped, and the three volumes were titled The Gathering Storm (published October 27, 2009), Towers of Midnight (published November 2, 2010), and A Memory of Light (published January 8, 2013). Logain hurls himself through a gateway and strikes at Demandred, weaving fire, but the Sharans throw themselves in the way, giving Demandred time to defend himself. Logain sees that the Andoran pike formations are close to failing after which it will be a rout. Demandred arrives and asks him how it is he failed and he tells him that Egwene had a sa'angreal. Demandred gives him Sakarnen, saying he won't need it if Lews Therin comes as their strengths must be matched if he is to show himself the better. Taim thinks him insane, far worse than when they first met. As he leaves, Demandred tells him that Sakarnen is bonded to him and if Taim tries to use it against him it will destroy Taim. He tells Taim to use balefire against the Amyrlin. You can't have a creator, an Alpha and Omega, and then have a power or force that is beyond his ability to control (by the way, that statement holds true in real life as well; God and the Devil are really just God). Jordan is able to take ... familiar elements and make them his own, in a powerful novel of wide and complex scope. Open religious and political conflicts add a gritty realism, while the cities and courts provide plenty of drama and splendor. Women have a stronger role than in Tolkien.... Each character in this large cast remains distinct.... Their adventures are varied, and exciting.... The Eye of the World stands alone as a fantasy epic.” — Locus Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers and listeners around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters.

He sees Karede, who says he is going to the front line. Mat tells him that he is going there as well and the Deathwatch Guard are to come with him. Karede agrees, looking for death as punishment, as long as Mat does not call the Empress "Tuon" as that would be a bad omen. Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians · The Scrivener's Bones · The Knights of Crystallia · The Shattered Lens · The Dark Talent · Bastille Versus the Evil Librarians The Wheel of Time is NOT a part of Brandon’s larger interconnected universe of books, although you are free to imagine “that most possibilities of worlds are mirror worlds to the WoT…” I've thought about this a little, and I wanted to add my thoughts to see if they are helpful or if anyone can build off of them. Building off some of what was suggested before me: Rand al'Thor was able to light the pipe by manipulating chance as a Ta'veren. In a previous book, he made a threat to Cadsuane Sedai, saying that he could stop her heart through chance by willing it to be so. He could have lit the pipe by willing it to be so in a similar manner. However, I believe this is likely: Rand should no longer be a Ta'veren after he defeated the Dark One.In A Memory of Light, the Wheel of Time series comes to a conclusion since its first book (The Eye of the World,1990) opened the door to Jordan's fantastic world of magic, politics, religion, savagery, and intrigue. Since that first novel, readers have passionately waited in anticipation for the next novel in the series, and then the next, passionately cheering and arguing after reading each same novel in the series. Here, the very last in this phenomenally epic saga is finally available at Audible, and the anticipation has been no less strong, the cheering and arguments no less passionate.

Jordan, Robert (December 29, 2012). "Exclusive First Read: 'A Memory Of Light,' By Robert Jordan And Brandon Sanderson". NPR . Retrieved May 13, 2013. The very final scene, where Rand lights his pipe and heads off into the world was the ending scene that Robert Jordan wrote when it became clear that he would not finish the series on his own. The entire epilogue is Jordan’s, barring a few small Loial inserts and Perrin’s scenes, and was written and not dictated. a b "A Memory of Light Ebook Release Date Confirmed". Tor.com. Across the land, Mat, Perrin, and Egwene engage in battle with Shadowspawn, Trollocs, Darkfriends, and other creatures of the Blight. Sacrifices are made, lives are lost, but victory is unassured. For when Rand confronts the Dark One in Shayol Ghul, he is bombarded with conflicting visions of the future that reveal there is more at stake for humanity than winning the war. I obviously don't know the answer, as I've gone about eliminating theories that don't seem possible. That leaves manipulating the pattern or something else. I think the answer is partially connected with his body switch, but not completely. Moridin could channel too, so why wouldn't Rand be able to in Moridin's body?

Brandon wanted to have a scene with Rand, Perrin, and Mat reunited, but just couldn’t fit it in logistically. The Pervara and Androl storyline almost stole the show. I just couldn’t get enough of them. I’d love to see a follow-up short story about these two in a fantasy anthology like the Legends series. What does Michael Kramer and Kate Reading bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book? Leane sees Sharans crystalise. At the top of a fifty foot high column of crystal, she sees Vora's sa'angreal and realises the Amyrlin has fallen. He walks into the palace in Caemlyn and passes windows, gateways to other places, showing a rebuilt Malkier, Tear and Rhuidean, surrounded by chora fields. He sees a stone slab, in what was the Blasted Lands where his body had been buried after the Last Battle.Brandon was astounded and humbled by the possibility. He’d been reading the Wheel of Time books since the release of EYE OF THE WORLD nearly twenty years before. To make a long story short, he agreed eagerly, and was commissioned to take Mr. Jordan’s notes, materials, outline, and written sections from Book Twelve, organize them, then fill in the many holes to make a complete novel. Jordan was uncertain if he wanted Elayne to have rule over Cairhien before the conference at the Fields of Merrilor and the Last Battle. In the Two Rivers, the Whitecloaks ride in pursuit of a man with golden eyes, and in pursuit of the Dragon Reborn. There is a deeper meaning to the “remnant of a remnant” Aiel prophecy, but it’s meaning is philosophical more than anything else and references, in part, their changing purpose.
