Your gems can be any color. I’ve colored gemstones in Green, Blue, Orange/Red, Purple, Pink and Grey. Pointillism is an effect utilized in old comics to get a stylistic, pleasing fill out of a minimum amount of ink. This technique allows you to use a minimum number of colors to get a lot of variation in color and shading.
