About this deal

The combination of it being able to get so loud and the quantity of bass from such a small unit impressed me most. I thought some of the other speakers that I own from this price category are excellent, and any issues they did have could be forgiven because of that eternal struggle of balancing sound, price, and size. I didn't expect it to be as markedly different from what I had heard before, but it was. The Minirigs is not just a little better; it is a lot better. However, if you can get past the small criticisms that some customers have about these speakers, you’ll be amazed about the quality of sound you get. However, the provided cable does allow you to use the Minirig’s battery to charge your mobile devices. There’s enough juice onboard to fully charge an iPhone 6 Plus once or an iPhone 4S twice. The Bluetooth range was about 20m using either my Microsoft Surface Book 2, Pixel, or iPhone 8 and but it could also work just fine from 30m+ if conditions are optimal. Being within range, I have never experienced any dropping of signal when using any Minirig product.

The MiniRig 3 is a portable, rechargeable speaker intended for life on the move. If you take your music with you to bars and booths around your city, then this device will ensure you never have to compromise on volume or sound quality. The sound signature is V-shaped with peaky highs and big lows, but if you desire a different tuning, you can cut the highs or lows with the EQ and expand the midrange to give an overall flatter profile. Tips for a better-sounding Bluetooth speaker.

With so many Bluetooth speakers now on the market, it can be hard to choose one. Many are laden with features, and others can be had at super low prices. The most important thing to me is sound, and for the life of me, I can’t think of anything this size that sounds even close to being this good. Really to get something better sounding, you are looking at getting the Minirig 3. The MiniRig 3 aren’t audiophile-grade speakers designed for the next level of music performance, but they do outperform a lot of other contenders in their price and weight range. Available for both Android and Apple devices, the app gives you a 5-band equalizer that you can experiment with. There’s also more control over your music through the app.

I don't tend to cover Bluetooth speakers here at Audiophile On, but companies send a lot to our offices. By that, I mean a lot of very average or outright crappy Bluetooth speakers. I won't bother covering them most of the time as nothing about them really stands out. When we decide to write about one, it means that we think highly enough for us to recommend it to our readers. A tip that is worth mentioning (and one that can be applied with whatever speaker you end up buying) is positioning your speaker for the best sound quality.

MiniRig is one of the best-known brands on the market for customers in search of a compact, powerful speaker tech. However, at the louder levels, the low frequencies do begin to dwindle. MiniRig 3 Review: Pros and Cons You wouldn’t be wrong if you mistook the Minirig 3 for the original model or the second because Minirig doesn’t change their design, and there is an excellent reason. The speaker, in my opinion, is perfect the way it is and built better than any other on the market. Yes, the Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth speakers are prettier to look at than many others, but they are nowhere near as robust and compact as the Minirig 3’s chassis. As mentioned above, the MiniRig 3 is intended to be a little more tech-friendly than its predecessors. Treble is surprisingly smooth, and never does it get overly hot. There is still a lot of detail in there that makes it a very versatile speaker capable of playing nice with all sorts of genres. The mid-range again has a lot of clarity, is very smooth, and very detailed. Despite it being a mono speaker, there is no hint of compression, and instruments and vocals have a good amount of spacing.

That said, an individual Minirig, used on its own, is a mono speaker. This is as opposed to a stereo unit that other small portable units aspire to be. This is important because, by making a single unit mono only, Minirigs can fit a larger 3-inch speaker into this device. Other companies try to cram multiple speakers of inferior quality into their units. Here, the 3-inch diaphragm can move more air and produce a way better sound and a much fuller and deeper bass response. To power on, there is a small bump of a button that, when pressed, will start glowing. You turn the unit on and search for the Bluetooth device, and you are connected and ready to play music from the go.Even though it has been a few years since the Minirigs came out still regard it as the best-sounding Bluetooth speaker on the market also edging out Bang & Olufsen's A1. The Minirig 3 is on an entirely different level.
