About this deal

The charging light turns from red to green when it’s fully charged. You can use the moonlight, low and medium modes whilst it’s charging. With the flashlight both on and off, press the POWER and MODE buttons simultaneously to switch between the DEMO and DAILY modes. The LED will flash to indicate the currently selected mode: With the deeper smooth deflector the SC31 Pro has a decent throw. I measured 190 metres with an intensity of 9060 candela. That’s pretty close to what Sofirn lists as 10,000 candela and there’s still useful spill for seeing what’s right in front of you too. For a rechargeable flashlight that is low weight, compact but able to put out a seriously bright light then the T4K is a great option. At just 76g and capable of an output of 4000 lumens this is an impressive piece of kit.

The 4 LEDs sit behind a TIR lens and the beam is floody, but with the huge amount of output the throw is still 209 metres with an intensity of 10900 candela. Although this is still less than the Fenix PD25R with only 800 lumens of output – which it can also hold for a lot longer. It really does depend on what you want. DMM: UNI-T UT139C and UNI-T UT210E – 16AWG wire is used directly into the 139C via some banana plugs, and 8AWG wire in a loop for the UNI-T. The DMM I use depends on how high the expected current will be – I use the 139C for <10A, and the 210E for >10A. It’s pretty compact and lightweight at only 75g but its huge head and deep smooth reflector gives it a throw of a quite staggering 585 metres with an intensity of 85000 candela! Remaining battery power is indicated by pressing the mode switch while the T4K is turned off and the OLED screen will display the current stats. When the battery voltage is below 3.4 V the power indicator beneath the buttons will flash blue every 2 seconds to inform the user to charge the battery. The flashlight is sealed and tightened down with 8 screws from factory – disassembly is not recommended.

Given that this light has a fully internal battery, measuring amps is a bit of a silly task. But I’m going to do it anyway! That said, because the battery is soldered to the driver, I can get a clamp meter around the wires, but don’t feel good about de-soldering the battery to test that way. So what I have is the High and Turbo current readings:

I also have the SC21 Pro from Sofirn which is very similar but almost half the size and weight, running off a 16340 battery. And it has the option of a higher CRI, warmer LED which I do slightly prefer. The Luminus SST20 LED I measured at 5682K with a slightly green tint and a CRI of 65. This is in turbo – in the lower modes the green tint is quite noticeable and won’t be to everyones’ tastes. Like the Fenix E18R V2.0 these modes are very well regulated and my measurements confirmed Olight’s specs with constant outputs up to the 300 lumen high mode. Turbo turned on at an impressive 1310 lumens, was still at 1299 lumens after 10 seconds, 1282 lumens at 30 seconds, and pretty much as spec’d dropped to 290 lumens after 90 seconds where it remained at 5 and 10 minutes and for as long as I measured its output. The Sofirn SC31 Pro comes in a no frills box with a USB-A to USB-C charging cable, a lanyard, spare o-rings and a user manual. With the torch off pressing the mode button shows the battery level of the torch with a graphical icon and its voltage. It’s fully charged at 4.2V.As the light is IP54 rated only, the light was subjected to being left under room temperature running water whilst running on HIGH.

The switch has a battery indicator light that comes on with a single press when the torch is off, or for a few seconds when you turn the torch on. Solid green and the torch has over 85% charge, flashing green 50-85%, red 25-50% and flashing red if it’s less than 25% charge remaining. This is handy but only works with the supplied Fenix battery – the ARB-L16-700P. The torch came on at 1271 lumens in turbo, dropped to 1245 lumens after 10 seconds, 1206 lumens after 30 seconds – pretty much exactly its spec’d 1212 lumens. It slowly dropped to 487 lumens at 5 minutes and then slowly dropped to 327 lumens, where it remained constant for the remainder of my measurements. This is impressive performance for such a small torch – almost 2 minutes at over 1000 lumens. The Fenix PD25R comes with a USB-C to USB-A charging cable, spare o-rings, a lanyard, a user manual, and rather surprisingly a little mini pouch for your belt. This is a very compact 18650 torch with up to 4000 lumens that runs Anduril 2 and also has multi-coloured auxiliary LEDs.Disclaimer: Light was provided for by Nitecore (manufacturer) for this review.
