About this deal

Sakuraco offers a variety of subscription plans tailored to suit your needs, providing both flexibility and savings. In saying that, there were double of other items I was expecting there to only be one of, such as the Strawberry Castella cakes. I am beyond excited to share my experience with Sakuraco, a Japanese sweets and candy box that brings the authentic taste of Japan right to your doorstep. You know me, I love everything Japan and when it comes to Japanese food and Japanese desserts, I'm the first to get excited. Sakura Cream Gaufrette (Mie) is a cream sandwich that is not only visually appealing, but also heavenly to the taste buds. The delicate wafer layers of the gaufrette have a stunning cherry blossom pattern, which make it look so delicate and elegant. Below I’m going to outline the different Japanese sweets you can expect within your Sakuraco box, the quality and how they taste.

Just don’t make our initial mistake, and assume the outer white cardboard is the edible rice paper. (Hint: It’s not!) walnut mochi white cardboard wrapping Each monthly box is different and representative of Japan's seasonality. Here's what was inside my box. I received the Moonlit Sakuraco box. This May box is all about the beauty of nighttime Sakura. I loved my time in Japan during the cherry blossom festival, so what better time to celebrate Hanami than with the Sakuraco box. We all know the distinct seasons influence Japanese life. Enjoy treats themed around the seasons such as sakura for spring months and momiji (autumn leaves) for autumn months. Japanese Home Goods

What’s In My Box?

TIP:Be sure to savour the amazing scents from the treats when you open them. Each smell is incredible! Yokan is a one of the dense desserts from Japan made from sugar, agar and red bean paste (are you sensing a theme here?) Sometimes it can look like chocolate! A unique and specially prepared rabbit marshmallow for the Tsukimi festival. | Image credit Honest Food Talks I was over the moon when invited to review this box and I’m delighted to say Sakuraco exceeded my expectations. Through sharp attention to detail the box perfectly embodies omotenashi , the art of Japanese hospitality. The way in which this has all been executed is quite impressive and difficult for me to describe, so you’ll just have to see for yourself! Room for improvement?

Rich Ogura Bread Loaf (Saitama) is a cake like bread filled with swirls of ogura which is an azuki bean jam. Mini Plum Mochi is another favourite. I basically opened the small box and ate them all in one sitting. I'm not even ashamed to admit this.

Sakuraco vs Tokyo treat box

The thought to include items from local makers other than edible goods such as teas and homewares. It would be nice to accumulate a set of these over time to enjoy.

For example, in one month we received Genmaicha sourced from Hokkaido. Meanwhile, during spring, we received an amazingly fragrant sakura tea, which went great alongside their sakura Japanese sweets. Hokkaido Genmaicha, in collaboration with Hagiri. | Image credit Honest Food Talks Genji Pie (Shizuoka) are delicious Japanese brittle biscuits in the shape of hearts with a glossy sugar finish. Mini Plum Mochi (Aichi) are old-fashioned plum mochi candies that are super addictive and so delicious. They are retro, yet very much still loved Japanese sweets that remind most people of childhood memories. These include promotional gifts, exclusive bonuses, and seasonal Sakuraco coupons. The promo gifts may include kitchenware set items, traditional Wafuu home items and more. Meanwhile, the Sakuraco coupon codes are used when you sign up for their subscription. On the other hand, Tokyo Treat is geared towards a younger audience, including kids and those who have a fondness for the vibrant subcultures of Japan. This box is perfect for those who yearn for the sweets found in konbini stores and prefer a more youthful vibe. A lovely thematic postcard comes with your monthly subscription too. | Image credit Honest Food Talks
