Contrary to what you may think, and what is sometimes written elsewhere, the QUALITY of foam and its FIRMNESS are two completely separate aspects. This is our best quality foam. It is our highest density grade and is the 'Rolls Royce' of all the foams we offer. It has a long life expectancy and a seven year guarantee. It is suitable for both sitting and sleeping on and was one of the first specifically developed to help minimise the effects of moisture, so ideal for use in a motorhome. Within this grade there are various firmness options available. CBSCC COMFORT EXTRA GRADE Owners of certain pets – or parents of little ones – often have to carefully consider the suitability of a motorhome’s or caravan’s upholstery. An expensive leather cover might not fare too well if you have a dog that likes to jump up or a cat that enjoys sharpening his claws, for example, while if you have young children and your outfit has white fabric it’s entirely possible that it won’t stay white for long. (My children are forever dropping food, pens and wet swimsuits on the seats, meaning that I end up spending a small fortune on cleaning products as I attempt to eradicate the stains they make.) On a related note, if you have an older caravan or motorhome you may find that the foam in the seats has ‘bottomed out’, which means that the foam has lost its resilience and when you come to sit down you hit the plywood base or slats with a bump. All our fabrics are hard wearing and most are flame retardant as standard. Some are machine washable too - ideal for zip-off covers and curtains. Free samples are available for all our caravan fabrics.

Although not normally necessary, if you wish you can have your new cushions made in a combination of firmness versions. INTERIOR SPRUNG CUSHIONS If your motorhome has existing pelmets then of course these can be changed when we make your curtains. If they are 'board' pelmets at present then we can strip off the old fabric and recover them in the fabric of your choice. Alternatively, we can make simple pelmets that fit with 'hook & loop tape' over your existing boards. CURTAIN PRICES Our most popular product is our made-to-measure removable washable seat covers which can be fitted straight over upholstered seating. They are very tough and hard wearing and are obtainable in numerous different textile styles and colours, complemented with coordinating curtain fabrics if required.
If you prefer, or if all our available slots for leaving your van here are already booked-up, then you can just drop off all the items for us to work on, without leaving your van here. You have a choice of 20 Machine Washable fabrics. They are all 100% Polyester so are extremely hard wearing and don’t ‘ladder’ like old nylon covers did years ago.

This is an excellent high density foam that gives good comfort and durability without going to the slightly higher cost of our 'Supreme' grade. It has a long life expectancy and a five year guarantee. It is our most chosen foam grade! This grade is ideal for both sitting and sleeping on and is available in various degrees of firmness. FOAM COMBINATIONS The FIRMNESS on the other hand has nothing to do with Quality, it’s simply a matter of personal preference, i.e. we have various degrees of Firmness, in each Quality. The Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations (1988) set new levels of fire resistance for domestic upholstered furniture and furnishings. From 1 March 1990 new caravans had to comply with the standard, so look for appropriate labelling on furniture when buying. In fact, some owners of older models have responded by having their upholstery upgraded. These regulations don’t apply to motor vehicles, so furniture and furnishings in motorhomes often don’t conform to the same standards. That said, some converters will use fire-resistant materials – it’s a good idea to ask when buying. Step-by-step guide BUYER BEWARE! There are over 30 different foam qualities made in the UK today… so it would be very easy for an unscrupulous company to supply a customer something described as a “good, firm foam”, but was actually just a poor quality foam in a hard firmness… something the customer wouldn’t find out until a few months down the line! We have your van here for 2 weeks, enabling us to take the time to do everything you have asked for calmly and with a great attention to detail.
As regards curtain heading types, we are able to make your new curtains using traditional 'rufflette' type curtain tape or, if required, the 'plastic popper' tape found in some touring caravans. If required we can also make 'eyelet' curtains in any of our fabrics. CURTAIN LININGSThe QUALITY of the foam is down to its density, and determines how long it will last, keep its support and shape and it will of course have a bearing on its cost.
