About this deal

Meanwhile, the killer watches, waits, and prepares to bury the truth forever. Because this was never just a murder. It was something far worse . . .

Moreover, the personal side of the tale continued to grow. I expected there to be more relating to the past book, about Colm, yet such a thing did not happen. That story was briefly mentioned, only one real aspect of it continuing on. Not the Colm aspect, the aftereffect of the events on David. As a person, throughout the books, he has really grown. I was crossing my fingers for certain things to happen in this one, for things to go a certain way… but to say anything specific about how I feel will tell you too much. Just know that if you’re really interested in the personal life of David things shift some in this book. Seventeen-year-old Megan Carver was an unlikely runaway. A straight-A student from a happy home, she studied hard and rarely got into trouble. Six months on, she's never been found. David Raker knows what it's like to grieve. He knows the shadowy world of the lost too. So, when he's hired by Megan's parents to find out what happened, he recognizes their pain - but knows that the darkest secrets can be buried deep. And Megan's secrets could cost him his life. Stranded, no hope of escape, wondering what has brought her to this moment, Rebekah struggles for survival on a remote island. Tim Weaver brings the sense of isolation, the terror, the bleak landscape to vivid, stark life with his brilliant writing and the entire read is edge of the seat fantastic. Detective Travis can't find Louise Mason. The case has no leads and is getting colder by the day. Then Travis gets an anonymous tip-off -but is this a clue or part of something more sinister? The last 40% however was a whirlwind! And I just wish the rest was like it too. There was twists and turns all over the place and most of my brain power was invested into it.

Tim Weaver is a name I had never heard before, but now that I have finished reading VANISHED its hard to make his name vanish from my mind, because he weaves great tales of crime and he writes then in a way which makes them fast and entertaining. David Raker, a London based P.I. specialising in finding missing person takes up a case where he is asked to find a missing husband.

Now, after hundreds of words rambling on to explain my love of – obsession with – Tim Weaver’s work, I will tell you all about Broken Heart. Showcases Tim Weaver's trademark clever and original plotting. Twisty, unpredictable and so gripping. That ending will stay with me for a long time. A brilliant book!' CLAIRE DOUGLAS, bestselling author of JUST LIKE THE OTHER GIRLS What neither Rebekah nor Detective Travis realize is that each holds a missing piece from the same puzzle - and it will cost them everything to finally solve it . . .A fluent and assured piece of crime fiction . . . Tim Weaver ties in the apparently divergent events with convincing ease * Crime Fiction Lover * Rebekah is trapped on an island that is closed for the winter. She is being hunted by teo killers but Rebekah does not know why they are after her. This is a cleverly crafted plotline that's both atmospheric and mysterious. Detective Frank Travis has a few days left before he retires and he's desperate to close the case of missing Louise Mason. I liked the authors style in writing this book. There's plenty of twists, it's compelling and has well developed characters. The story is told from Rebekah and Frank's points of view. I loved this standalone. Meanwhile Detective Frank Travis is looking for missing Louise Mason who disappeared three months ago without trace. Frank is due to retire next week and knows that he is Louise’s only hope of being found. Are these two cases connected and will Frank be able to solve them before it is too late. The perfect thriller for fans of Jo Nesbo and Michael Connelly - from the bestselling author and host of chart-topping podcast Missing. Missing Pieces by Tim weaver is another great book from the author. I have read the David Raker series, and this doesn’t disappoint. This is a standalone novel.

A superb twisty crime thriller - writing at its very best. Will keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing right up to the end' 5***** Reader Review Musím přiznat, že jsem se do čtení musela trošku nutit. This book opens strongly and keeps your attention throughout the whole island setting. The heroine is alone, and the narrative with this sole character is excellently portrayed. However, once certain things resolve, [avoiding spoilers, here!] the pace slows right down, which covers roughly the final quarter of the book. Such a shame, as the initial 3/4 held me gripped and not wanting to put the book down. By the time I'd read to about 80%, I grew bored and impatient. I kept going because I wanted the answers to what had happened and why. The perseverance paid off-sort of. None of the reasons felt that compelling or realistic to me. So much carnage and destruction based on a slim 'what if' scenario? Sorry, but that just did not work for me. Even the cover of this book is moody and atmospheric. In fact, it really sets the tone for this dark thriller. Thank you Netgalley, Penguin Michael Joseph UK and of course Tim Weaver for letting me ready a copy of this I'm return for an honest review.I didn't particularly warm to any of the characters. There was an awful lot of really nasty people - and most of the nice ones seem to get killed off. But the plot didn't really require you to like anyone in particular Having read and been engaged in the lives of the subjects, as well as fully entertained by David Raker himself in the previous books I found this one veered perhaps down a too convoluted path for me although I am mindful that due to events in my personal life I wasn’t perhaps in the right frame of mind for any book at this time. So my observations are that there was more violence in this episode than the previous books in the series and the expose into film making was fascinating but perhaps a little bit too ‘nerdy’ for those of us who aren’t as thrilled by the subject as Tim Weaver as a result the endless playing of sections of a film, a director obsessed by his star and lost copies of films made years previously which included fairly lengthy explanations of how originals need to be stored to keep them from deteriorating slowed the pace down for me. If you have a love of old Hollywood movies, especially those naff horror ones, then you will love this aspect. What is not in doubt that there is a complicated mystery to be solved and my sleuthing didn’t even come close. I had never read a Tim Weaver book before and after reading this I will certainly be reading more of them. This is so well written, the plot is very complicated with lots of twists at the end but it stays credibility all the way through and although violent at times I never felt it was just for the sake of it.

Weaver's credentials are sui generis, and they are burnished by this latest novel' Barry Forshaw, Crime Time At the same time, veteran NYPD detective Frank Travis, during his last days before retirement, is trying to discover what happened to artist Louise Mason, who disappeared three months previously. Unbeknownst to both, Detective Travis and Rebekah each hold a missing piece of the same puzzle. Louise Mason, Johnny's ex girlfriend disappeared without a trace just before Johnny and "Bek' go to Crow Island. Johnny is the main suspect of her disappearance, so when they then both go missing detective Frank Travis is assigned to the case, but he is due to retire within the next week. He wants to solve the case before he retires and he knows that he is Louise’s only hope of being found alive or dead. Furthermore, it’s not just David’s story that progresses, but also that of Colm. Whilst I was unsure how I felt about his story it was certainly interesting to see where things went with him, especially with the events which have unfolded for him in the past couple of books. He’s just one of those characters that you need to know the story of if only so it doesn’t nag at the bag of your mind.

This book has blown me away! I read it in a day as I physically couldn't put it down. An absolute must-read for everyone' 5***** Reader Review
