About this deal

Allergenics Gentle Medicated Shampoo has been formulated after extensive research and dermatological studies in the field of allergies. It is a highly effective gentle cleansing treatment, particularly suitable for those with easily irritated, sensitive scalps. Free from harsh detergents, and does not damage the scalps delicate cellular structure. Allergen extracts are used for the diagnosis and/or treatment of allergic diseases such as allergic rhinitis ("hay fever"), allergic sinusitis, allergic conjunctivitis, bee venom allergy and food allergy. Currently, there are two types of licensed allergen extracts:

Barefoot SOS Scalp Treatment Shampoo is a gentle, deep cleansing treatment shampoo that combines the highest quality blend of natural moisturisers, comforting botanical plant extracts and pure essential oils to leave the hair cleansed and shiny, and the scalp relaxed, hydrated and soothed. Seasonal allergy symptoms are commonly experienced during specific parts of the year, usually during spring, summer or fall when certain trees or grasses pollinate. This depends on the kind of tree or grass. For instance, some trees such as oak, elm, and maple pollinate in the spring, while grasses such as Bermuda, timothy and orchard pollinate in the summer. Main article: List of allergens SEM of miscellaneous plant pollens. Pollens are very common allergens. The house dust mite, its feces and chitin are common allergens around the home Common food allergens Koivikko, A.; Savolainen, J. (January 1988). "Mushroom allergy". Allergy. 43 (1): 1–10. doi: 10.1111/j.1398-9995.1988.tb02037.x. PMID 3278649. Type II reactions result when antibodies react with antigens that are found on certain “target” cells. The antigens may be natural components of healthy cells, or they may be extrinsic components induced by drugs or infectious microbes. The resultant antigen-antibody complex activates the complement system, a series of potent enzymes that destroy the target cell.If both parents have had allergies in the past, there is a 66% chance for the individual to experience seasonal allergies, and the risk lowers to 60% if just one parent has had allergies. [ citation needed] The immune system also has strong influence on seasonal allergies, because it reacts differently to diverse allergens like pollen. When an allergen enters the body of an individual that is predisposed to allergies, it triggers an immune reaction and the production of antibodies. These allergen antibodies migrate to mast cells lining the nose, eyes, and lungs. When an allergen drifts into the nose more than once, mast cells release a slew of chemicals or histamines that irritate and inflame the moist membranes lining the nose and produce the symptoms of an allergic reaction: scratchy throat, itching, sneezing and watery eyes. Some symptoms that differentiate allergies from a cold include: [15] Among seasonal allergies, there are some allergens that fuse together and produce a new type of allergy. For instance, grass pollen allergens cross-react with food allergy proteins in vegetables such as onion, lettuce, carrots, celery, and corn. Besides, the cousins of birch pollen allergens, like apples, grapes, peaches, celery, and apricots, produce severe itching in the ears and throat. The cypress pollen allergy brings a cross reactivity between diverse species like olive, privet, ash and Russian olive tree pollen allergens. In some rural areas, there is another form of seasonal grass allergy, combining airborne particles of pollen mixed with mold. [16] This is what they say, “Finding your natural hair oils are over producing? Finding yourself with an itchy or irritated scalp? Look no further as Green People have created a marvellous shampoo that will cleanse, stimulate and control your hairs bad days! Not only will the shampoo leave your hair feeling fresh, it helps to relieve symptoms of itchy scalp and help to reduce the appearance of dandruff. I’m not sure the ingredients are really that good for sensitive scalps and eczema. See what you think here: NeutarTM Solubilised Coal Tar Extract 20 mg/ml. I went shopping to the health food shops thinking, well this will be easy, I can grab something and try it out. But buying shampoo seems to be all about hair and nothing about scalp. The bottles all advertise their qualities for volumising, moisturising, cleansing, good for normal hair, oily hair, dry hair, dyed hair, damaged hair. What about people with dry, itchy, flaky scalps? It left my hair feeling squeaky clean and my scalp wasn’t too bad when I was trying this one out. The ingredients also look quite good, it doesn’t contain any of the known big nasties but there are some there I don’t really know. More research needed.

Ingredients: AQUA (SPRING WATER), GLYCERIN (VEGETABLE DERIVED), DECYL GLUCOSIDE (DERIVED FROM CORN), SODIUM COCOAMPHOACETATE (DERIVED FROM COCONUT), COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINAMIDE MEA CHLORIDE (DERIVED FROM COCONUT), BETAINE (SOOTHING PLANT EXTRACT), ALOE BARBADENSIS (ALOE VERA) LEAF JUICE POWDER*, ANANAS SATIVUS (PINEAPPLE) FRUIT EXTRACT, AROMA [ROSMARINUS OFFICINALIS (ROSEMARY) LEAF OIL* Injectable allergen extracts are used for both diagnosis and treatment and are sterile liquids that are manufactured from natural substances (such as molds, pollens, insects, insect venoms, and animal hair) known to elicit allergic reactions in susceptible individuals. Injectable allergen extracts for food allergies are used only for diagnostic purposes. Among the injectable allergen extracts, some are standardized; for these products there is an established method to determine the potency (or strength) of the product on a lot-by-lot basis. For the other injectable allergen extracts there is no measure of potency, and these are called "non-standardized." Lehrer, SB.; Lopez, M.; Butcher, BT.; Olson, J.; Reed, M.; Salvaggio, JE. Do you have accurate recipe lists, so that there is a clear list of the allergens present in the food you serve?

What you do is get the soap bar wet and lather it in your hands then rub it over your scalp and work it into your hair till you’ve coated the hair. I find it has a very strong medicated, burnt kind of smell but it works OK, doesn’t keep my hair feeling clean and shiny for as long as normal shampoo. The next day it feels sort of coated and as if it needs washing again. I like it for travelling or holidays where you might be showering every day after a day on the beach, on the saddle or the slopes and it also won’t leak as it’s just a soap bar. Most importantly it is kind to my scalp and doesn’t irritate my skin. From the ingredients list there are things here that may cause irritation including Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), Linalool and Limonene. You can also buy a little tin to carry it in. They also do a nettle and tea tree soap bar which might be worth a try though I haven’t tried that one myself. Be aware though that most Lush products contain parabens and perfume so ask for the sensitive skin products and always read the ingredients list.

PMID 447950. In technical terms, an allergen is an antigen that is capable of stimulating a type-I hypersensitivity reaction in atopic individuals through immunoglobulin E (IgE) responses. [1] Most humans mount significant Immunoglobulin E responses only as a defense against parasitic infections. However, some individuals may respond to many common environmental antigens. This hereditary predisposition is called atopy. In atopic individuals, non-parasitic antigens stimulate inappropriate IgE production, leading to type I hypersensitivity. [ citation needed] Allergen immunotherapy treatment involves administering doses of allergens to accustom the body to induce specific long-term tolerance. [45] Allergy immunotherapy can be administered orally (as sublingual tablets or sublingual drops), or by injections under the skin (subcutaneous). [ citation needed] Immunotherapy contains a small amount of the substance that triggers the allergic reactions.
