For my first novel, I just wrote what I thought it needed until I finished. Afterward, I learned about the three-act structure, character arcs, and scene structures, which I applied to my WIP during revision. Doing this after the fact meant a lot of revisions and rewrites. Former Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq's Cookie series follows a science-mad, British-Bangladeshi called Cookie and explores how she straddles two cultures, her love of science and the occasional chaos of her everyday life, illustrated with Konnie's hilarious doodles. The series is currently being turned into a live action television series by Zodiak Kids. One thing that I'm most grateful for is that all the ingredients are measured not only in cups, tablespoons, etc. but also in grams, making it so much easier for us european bakers. I hate when there're only american measurements in the recipe and I have to convert every single ingredient! There's also a conversion table at the end and some music to bake to (nice touch!). All the recipes have a step by step easy enough for even the most unexperienced bakers to follow. Calling the Old Man Out: After learning her father let her pet rabbit out, resulting in its Cruel and Unusual Death, Beauty pushes him away when he tries to hug her and tearfully yells " I bloody hate you!" Why did you decide to make Cookie keen on science, and to feature different aspects of science in the books? The journey to write this novel took me four years, six drafts, and a LOT of stress, but I came off a better writer and now I have an agent! Here’s how I wrote my second novel with some extra advice for writers at the end. Idea – 2017 Dilly, in sharp contrast to Gerry, is a very good mother to Beauty. She is constantly kind and supportive of her and does her best to make her safe and happy. That hand crushing the bunny cookie is a good warning that this book is a lot more depressing than its cover suggests. I like Mrs Chen, the science teacher who is very meek mild ordinarily but can get really angry when pushed over the edge.Aku benci dia. Aku tidak tahan menjadi jelek. Dia ayahku, dia seharusnya suka aku apa adanya. ... " ~ h. 116 There are so many recipes included that I would want to try that I can not list them all here. It will take me a very long time to make them all and it will be difficult to decide which to make next. Imaginary Friend: Played with. Beauty idolises Sam, the main character in her favourite TV series Sam and Lily in the Rabbit Hutch and sometimes imagines having conversations with him, though technically, he is a real person. In the end, Beauty finally gets to meet Sam in person. This is one of my favourite Jacqueline Wilson books, and I think Beauty is one of my favourite of her characters too - I find her very relatable, especially her vivid imagination, her awkwardness, and her love of Sara Crewe from 'A Little Princess'. Since I already knew what the story was about, I skipped the “General Sketches” she mentions, and went straight to figuring out the plot structure and character arc, as well as interviewing my characters. Her series finishes with writing out the structure for each scene, but I did this as I wrote the first draft.

The Story of Tracy Beaker won the 2002 Blue Peter People’s Choice Award. So…I saw ‘Scarlett’ by Cathy Cassidy standing on my bookshelf. I started it, and completely forgot about Harry Potter – I felt like I was involved with the character. You have an an incredible talent!! 🤩
