About this deal

The 2.4GHz band offers excellent range and broad compatibility, and the 5GHz band provides higher performance, but both are increasingly crowded with devices and can be prone to interference. The WiFi 6 technologies on the ZenWiFi Pro XT12 can alleviate congestion when it’s managing a network of compatible WiFi 6 devices. Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) allows the router to communicate with multiple devices simultaneously by dividing slices of the frequency spectrum into sub-channels. OFDMA is complemented by multi-user, multiple input, multiple output (MU-MIMO), which uses multiple transmit and receive antennas so that the router can talk to many devices at the same time. All Asus routers allow remote management, which is turned off by default, via Dynamic DNS mentioned below.) You can use each as a standalone router for a relatively large home or add the second one to form a system to extend the Wi-Fi coverage for a sprawling one, either wirelessly or via a network cable. One 2.4 GHz band, with a total maximum bandwidth of 1148 Mbps. This band can work using either Wi-Fi 4 or Wi-Fi 6.

And as a mesh router, the Pro ET12 has all features and settings of a device that support AiMesh 2.0. I detailed that in this post on AiMesh. Coming to the Wi-Fi range, the Asus ZenWiFi Pro ET12 proved to be about as good as the best wireless router I’ve tested. I placed one unit upstairs and the other downstairs and both were able to communicate with each other on the 6GHz band. Moving them further resulted in the mesh connecting over the 5GHz band. Keep in mind that the 6GHz band does have a shorter range compared to 5GHz band- just like the 5GHz band has a shorter range compared to the 2.4GHz band.ASUS uses its AiMesh platform with both the ZenWiFi line and its standalone routers. That means you can build a mesh with almost any modern ASUS system. This has both a 2.5g wan port and a 2.5g lan port, so my computer that has a port that can connect at higher than 1g, is able to. This also has Wi-Fi 6e, which the adtran does not have, so my devices that are capable of using 6e, which I have 4 of, can take advantage of the significant speed increase that delivers.

However, one thing to note is that using the app can inadvertently turn on or off specific settings that could cause the router to behave unexpectedly. In this case, you’ll have to reset the router and set it up from the beginning.WiFi 7 will be overrated anyway since mainstream SFP28 or better is yearsss away anyway so this is the beast to buy! Signed, sealed, delivered. Reply From top to almost bottom, one corner of the router is beveled to carry a little LED that bears the vendor’s name and the model of the router. Each router looks like a large square tower topped with a transparent section. Through the clear plastic, you’ll note the eight internal antennas at the corners and sides in positions supposedly optimized for the coverage. The new Pro ET12 has four streams on each band – currently the highest among Wi-Fi 6E. Consequently, it’s top-tier among this new type of Tri-band router.

Overall, I think this router looks and feels like a premium device, and one-ups the design of something like an eero Pro 6E and Orbi RBKE963. It may even pass the AmpliFi Alien, depending on how you feel about underglow lighting.

From the Manufacturer

As a WiFi 6E router, the ZenWiFi Pro ET12 offers all the congestion-alleviating technologies of WiFi 6 with access to the wide-open spectrum of the 6GHz band as the cherry on top. To open a new frontier of wireless networking, the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) granted access to the 6GHz band. Because the congestion-management and latency-reducing features of WiFi 6 are mandatory for devices compatible with this spectrum, they’ll enjoy low interference and top-end performance when they’re connected to a network managed by the ET12. Upgrading to a bit of kit like this is about more than just raw speed though. With 10 antennas in each box, you should be well covered in terms of removing dead zones and supporting dozens of devices. So if your current router or mesh network system is showing the strain from having to keep a long list of hardware online at all times, then that might be another reason to upgrade. The tech specs of the Asus ZenWiFi Pro ET12 are dazzling, starting of course with the Wi-Fi 6E support. Remember that your other devices will need to be capable of Wi-Fi 6E connectivity to get the best speeds, but older Wi-Fi standards are of course supported as well. Across the three bands offered by the unit – 2.4GHz, 5GHz and the newly introduced 6GHz – you can get speeds up to 11,000Mbps and cover more than 550 square metres, which should be more than enough for most people's needs. The rest is self-explanatory. The first time you get to the web interface, you’ll run into a wizard that walks you through a few steps. Today’s highest-performing wireless networks need to serve more and more devices with more bandwidth than ever before. ZenWiFi Pro mesh wireless routers offer the most MU-MIMO capacity of any ASUS mesh system for the most demanding environments. The ZenWiFi Pro ET12 harnesses WiFi 6E to offer cutting-edge connectivity to compatible client devices, while the ZenWiFi Pro XT12 delivers a premium WiFi 6 experience.
