About this deal

Unfortunately you need the paid for Fuze software to play it, but they did say in the comments of the first video that it might be added to the free Fuze 4 Player gallery in the future. Original Story [Thu 5th Nov, 2020 16:15 GMT]: If you're a British gamer who grew up in the '80s then Dizzy will need no introduction. The egg-based hero created by The Oliver Twins starred in numerous adventures across a wide range of systems, including the NES. Dizzy, the most heroic and famous of the Yolkfolk, lives a care-free existence with his friends and family. Or at least he did, until twisted wizard Zaks kidnapped his girlfriend, Daisy, and put various people under his mystic power. Being a fine, upstanding member of the community, not to mention a touch lonely without his missus, Dizzy intends to put matters right. Thanks to George, we have a complete Spellbound Dizzy map (974kb). (If the screen looks blank, scroll to see the map.) The evil wizard Zaks has cast a spell on the peaceful Yolkfolk, and while many fell under his spell, others have other problems to deal with, including Dizzy, who saw his girlfriend Daisy kidnapped and taken hostage by Zaks, and it's up to him to restore the Yolkfolk to normal and rescue Daisy from the top of the Cloud Castle's tower.

In addition to fun adventure puzzles, Fantastic Dizzy also introduces a few arcade sub-games to the standard Dizzy formula, including an Operation Wolf-style shooting gallery and a tile-shuffling puzzle game where you can win extra lives, but these are mere icing on the cake. They spent their days exploring the forest and mining diamonds to trade with the trolls in the neighbouring town of Keldor. cf. Getting the mushroom, vial and flower to get medicine, heal Grand Dizzy, get egg and finally trade egg for golden cloverleaf. In October 1993, the game was re-released as “ Fantastic Dizzy” for the Amiga, Sega Master System, Sega Game Gear, Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and PC DOS/IBM. The game is hard to qualify in a genre: while it seems at first a platform game, Dizzy is vulnerable to all enemies while unable to eliminate them, and puzzles are completed by bringing an object to a location (in the same fashion as Gods and adventure games), and also has to capture all 250 stars scattered in the game. The game can also be seen as a union of all the previous games where the player can find a lot of familiar puzzles (e.g. Elevators, magic beans) and places (e.g. mines, deep sea) as well has several arcade minigames based on older games in the series (like Bubble Dizzy).

Now THIS is a brilliant game. This has all the great features a Dizzy game is supposed to have, but the creators really went all out with the great graphics and animation, music and different styles of gameplay here. If you're a Dizzy fan anyway, then you just can't afford to miss this adventure. And even if you're not such a fan of the rest of the series, well you might find that you like this game anyway, as there's so much to it and something to please everyone really. But because of Nintendo suing Camerica and Galoob over the “Game Genie” at that time, the release was delayed for 11 months. The gameplay followed the same route as previous Dizzy games, allowing the titular egg to carry up to 3 items at once to solve various puzzles.

The Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy” is an adventure game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in November 1991. We completed The Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy in seven months, so far longer than we’d ever spent on a game before, so that it was ready for a Christmas release into America. Sadly, due to the legal battle that Nintendo and Galoob, Codemasters North American distributor were having over Game Genie, its release was delayed until November 1991. By this time attention was starting to shift to the 16-bit consoles - SEGA’s Megadrive (called Genesis in the US ) and the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) which significantly damaged the sales potential. However, it was awarded NES Adventure Game of the Year by Game Players Magazine and given the coveted Parents Choice Award. N-Power reviewed it at 90% - the same as Super Mario Bros! The Yolkfolk themselves, with their oval shaped bodies and bright red gloves and boots, lived in treehouses high in the forest.
