About this deal

Up front disclosure – this light was supplied for free for review. I received no other compensation.) Fenix torches are known for their impressive brightness levels, often ranging from a few hundred to several thousand lumens, providing excellent visibility in various conditions. They often incorporate multiple lighting modes (low, medium, high, strobe, SOS, etc.) in their torches to cater to different situations and conserve battery life. Now on to the threads – as I said above only the head is removable. One of the nice features is the threads, and in particular how they interface with the head. The head sits down over the body in such a way that getting the threads to grab goes very smoothly. Much more so than most other lights. I can’t point to exactly why, except to say it’s because of how the head flairs on the body side. The threads are square-cut, anodized, well lubed, and moderately long. The Fenix E12 V2.0 is powered by a single AA battery. Let’s look at the modes now. In my opinion they are about perfectly spaced. Here are a couple of runtimes. I don’t really note any low voltage protection, but the output is so low by the end there, that you’ll notice.

Tested in laboratory conditions to ANSI/PLATO FL1 standard using 1 x AA alkaline battery under the temperature of 21±3°C and humidity of 50% - 80%. Results may vary between torch, battery and environments. All output numbers are relative for my home-made Integrating Sphere. It is set up with an Extech SDL400 Lux Meter for measurements including a Kenko PRO1D ND-16 filter. The base measurement is done with a Convoy S2+ that was tested at 255 lumens.

Fenix is a brand that people have come to like very much due to its quality products and customer service. Unlike many flashlight brands, Fenix offers a one-year repair guarantee and a lifetime limited warranty on its products. So, this is what you will get when you buy the Fenix E12 LED flashlight. High-power light should use battery with high current discharge capability; We suggest using high-performance Ni-MH rechargeable battery to increase the runtime of this high-intensity light. The tailswitch boot button is covered by 2 protruding lanyard hole design and the boot is recessed enough for tail-standing. I wish Fenix E20 v2.0 has the same design though... It has a white beam, with little tint shift and few artifacts. The beam is shown here alongside a triple XPL HI, 4000k, at as close to the same level as I could get to. Below is an interactive runtime graph of several AA flashlights I tested. These are measured with AA Eneloop batteries. Even though some of the lights work with 14500 batteries, the numbers are solely for Eneloops. Still, it wouldn’t hurt anything to have this light turn on in High, and it wouldn’t have cost Fenix anything extra. I don’t understand that decision. The body doesn’t have much knurling so it can feel a little slippery. Keep in mind that we are talking about a very tiny flashlight, so most people don’t use it as their main work light. If you are an AA flashlight fan, read this review carefully.

E12 V2.0 features all the hallmarks of Fenix quality including superbly engineered A6061 T6 aluminium construction, patented optically coated lens, bronze colour bezel ring, anti slip body and IP68 rated 2m waterproofing. Shown here alongside an Oveready BOSS 35 and a Fenix E01 V2. The E01 is not much smaller, and weighs just under an ounce. I’m not a huge fan of twisty interfaces, so I would almost always carry the E12 for the little bit of extra weight.Low: 5 lumens. Not bad – a solid jump down from medium. Since we’re going low I wouldn’t mind this being just one or two lumens, but it works. Even MID mode is enough to light up 5-7 meters with good detail in the open air. And the high with its 250 lumens gives enough light to shine through the surrounding bushes. The E12 V2.0 has a central beam angle of 12° combined with a spill beam angle of 85°, which offers a soft wide lighting area perfect for comfortable up close work. Equally it is capable of shining up to 68 metres on the highest setting should the distance be required, making the torch a superb companion for tradesmen and general every day use. This is a well-built little light. I have always liked these optics that Fenix uses in small lights, and this is no exception. I would prefer a warmer emitter and strongly prefer for the Fenix E12 V2.0 AA EDC flashlight to accept 14500 cells. Overall, for the price, this is a nice little light. Long Review The Big Table Fenix E12 V2.0 AA EDC Flashlight Here you can see the bezel, which has a rose color. Sorry to say that I’m unsure if this bezel is press-fit or screwed in – I can’t make it budge.

But generally, you should attach the lanyard through these two holes on the tailcap. Both sides of the tailcap have holes. Weight: Even though it’s smaller than the old E12, it’s heavier by 0.3 ounces. Not a huge deal – under 2 ounces is still infinitely carry-able. Tail Switch: The tail switch isn’t terrible. It’s protected but still easily accessible. It feels a little mushy/spongy, but that’s not a huge deal. It doesn’t feel the best, but it works. The surface is nice, tactile rubber and it should be fairly durable. We already have a fantastic review starting this thread, and i couldn't come close to doing one like that. comparing the High mode of Fenix E12 v2.0, 160 lumens to the High mode of Fenix E20 v2.0 350 lumens (image captured at 1/1000s shutter speed @ ISO-50).Fenix produce the best quality torches, headlamps, lanterns, bike lights, batteries, chargers and accessories.
