About this deal

This one doesn’t involve a piping tip, but it’s such a classic look that many renowned bakeries still use on the daily. The right piping tips and techniques make all the difference when it comes to creating flawless cupcakes. These are definitely the easiest looks to create, but they’re still some of my go-to’s when it comes to cupcake decorating. This characteristic makes closed star tips great for piping rosettes , flowers, and making swirls. You can also create pretty, detailed ruffles using this tip! Wilton 1M: Wilton 1M is a classic piping tip and the buttercream rose is a staple decoration. Start in the center and, using medium pressure, pipe a flat swirl. You can see this lovely rose decoration on this 6 inch birthday cake. You can also create two-toned frosting roses. You can also produce a decoration that resembles soft serve ice cream. Start in the center and, using medium pressure, move the tip slowly around, building a tall swirl on top of itself.

Take a look at the tutorial below to see all 4 styles and how I piped them. I really hope this will be helpful the next time you are looking to pipe cupcakes and let me know in the comments below which is your favourite.Using tip 1M, pipe a swirl starting on the outer edge and building upon each turn until you build a little mountain of a swirl. It should end up looking like a soft serve ice cream cone. For our customers in Northern Ireland with a ‘BT’ postcode, please note that any deliveries will most likely take three days to arrive, on 2 Day Northern Ireland Delivery. Quantity: This recipe is enough to frost 12-16 cupcakes or a thin layer on a 9×13 inch quarter sheet cake. Follow the ratios written in this white cake for a two layer cake, or for a three layer cake use the ratios in this confetti cake. Frosting your cakes and cupcakes never fails to make them more appealing. Besides adding another layer of flavour and texture, it also helps to elevate your baked goods’ appearance.

There are a ton of different types of piping tips out there, each with their own serial code, shape, and number. These piping tips when used, will give you a wide range of frosting designs. However, cake decorating is much more than smearing a layer of frosting onto your cakes. Like working on a painting, cake decorating is an art; you can accentuate the aesthetics by using different tools, colours, and techniques.Simply pipe, stop squeezing, pull away, and repeat. To give it a more natural look, pipe the grass shape slightly to the sides instead of straight up. 10. Wilton Easy Blooms Storage & Freezing: Use prepared frosting immediately or cover tightly and store for up to 1 week in the refrigerator or up to 3 months in the freezer. After freezing, thaw in the refrigerator then beat the frosting on medium speed for a few seconds so it’s creamy again. After thawing or refrigerating, beating in a splash of heavy cream or milk will help thin the frosting out again, if needed. Make various types of leaves by holding this tip at different angles, and find out what works best for you. 7. Wilton #101 This is my all-time favorite design, and I often use a few different colors with this technique. It never fails to impress. Besides grass, you can use a grass-shaped piping tip to make wreaths and pine trees, perfect for the Christmas season!
