We’re proud to say that all of our products meet our Quality Assurance Policy as detailed in our AS9100 & ISO 9001 certification, and are used by leaders in the automotive, oil and gas, nuclear and transportation industries. Our clients choose us for our professional, family-oriented customer service, honed over the 30 years we’ve been trading. Choose Custom Fittings for your industrial fittings - and buy from the very best fittings manufacturer there is. The standard ISO 228 - Pipe threads where pressure-tight joints are not made on the threads consists of the following parts:

Taper threads, British Standard Pipe Taper thread (BSPT). These are sometimes denoted by the letter R, for example R 1/2" means a taper 1/2 inch BSP thread. One of the most commonly used pipe fittings, stainless steel tees are used to adjust the flow rate and change direction. Our steel tees come in sizes ranging from 1/8” to 4”. The right steel fittings for your needs G is the international standard shorthand for BSPP - BSP Parallel threads. R is the standard for BSPT - BSP Tapered. Parallel (G) threads are used where the seal is made on a mating face, like inside a cast iron radiator with the aid of a gasket. Tapered fittings achieve a tight thread-to-thread seal with the help of a little sealant such as PTFE tape or hemp and Boss White. Right first timeBritish Standard Pipe is the standard thread used on plumbing fittings across most of the world (but not in North America). Below, you'll find tables showing BSP sizes in mm; tables detailing the difference between BSP and the American standard NPT; an explanation of straight and tapered thread types; and a handy thread size ruler and template to print out and use at home. NPT - National Pipe Thread - is the US standard. Most of the rest of the world uses BSP - British Standard Pipe. Making BES your one-stop shop for all your steel pipe fittings needs is a no brainer. Our range includes all the essentials possibly needed as well as specialised fittings.

It is not recommended to run within the maximum pressure limits for prolonged periods of time as this can severely deteriorate the hose and fittings life span. Unions are some of our most popular BSP pipe fittings. Our screwed stainless steel cone seat unions range from 1/8” to 4” and are suitable for natural gas, LPG, hot & cold water systems and other applications. Malleable iron fittings are perfect for a wide variety of uses. They are highly durable and very popular in the plumbing industry as they can be used in commercial and residential applications. Just to confuse things, often the T in BSPT refers to Thread and doesn't indicate either Taper or Parallel.Parallel (straight) threads, British Standard Pipe Parallel thread (BSPP). These are sometimes denoted by the letter G, for example G 1/2" means a parallel 1/2 inch BSP thread. Although it is not recommended, these products can be used with other fluids but must not be corrosive or flammable. Please note, using aggressive fluids will reduce the working life of the hose or fitting. Parallel (straight) threads, British Standard Pipe Parallel thread ( BSPP; originally also known as [1] British Standard Pipe Fitting thread/ BSPF and British Standard Pipe Mechanical thread/ BSPM), which have a constant diameter; denoted by the letter G. The terminology for the use of G and R originated from Germany ( G for gas, as it was originally designed for use on gas pipes; R for rohr, meaning pipe.) In brief: products for sale in the UK and Europe ship with BSP threads; products that we export to North America are fitted with NPT threads.
