What Remains– Colm Healy used to be one of the Met’s best detectives. Haunted by the unsolved murders of a mother and her twin daughters, his life was left in ruins. "Judith Spelman Talks to a Best Selling Author Who Produces A Thriller A Year". Writing Magazine: 8–9. Spook factor. It was properly ooky with all the stuff around him that made him isolated, afraid and unable to fight.

Coming from English writer Tim Weaver, this crime series is about the investigations of missing persons investigator David Raker. While reading the sample, I thought that this is my kind of book. It had a dark, twisted, jaded protagonist with some great sarcastic humor. I immediately bought the book. It took some time, but I finally got around to reading it.THE CWA's 2004 Ian Fleming Steel Dagger Award". Crime Writer's Association. Archived from the original on 25 December 2005 . Retrieved 13 August 2012.

There were additional issues with the book; the author had problems keeping the timeline straight, he placed the 10th of the month as the Friday between the 13th and 27th. The Last Goodbye– On the night Tom Brenner and his nine-year-old son Leo visit the Seven Peaks theme park, they head straight for the ghost house. They go in. But they don’t come out. 40 years ago… When Rebekah Murphy was three, her mother walked out of their childhood home and never returned. Nearly four decades on, Fiona Murphy is still missing. But then, out of the blue, a letter arrives in the post. It says it’s from Fiona. David Raker is hired by Rebekah to find out if the letter is actually from her mother – and soon makes a connection to the Brenners.Kerridge, Jake (6 August 2012). Nightshade– A farmer walks into a school and shoots eight children dead before turning the gun on himself. It’s a harrowing but straightforward case – until police search the man’s farm and unearth evidence of dark Satanic practices. When the perpetrator’s brother approaches Nightingale, adamant that his brother was set up, it’s clear that something even more sinister lurks at the heart of the case. a b c "Kindle gives thriller writer a plot for success – at 71p a shot".
