About this deal

VisionAid Technologies also supply eSight, Orcam MyEye and NuEyes (see below) and can demonstrate all its devices to customers at home and at exhibitions. eSight 4 OrCam Read Smart is a personal reading device for anyone who is consistently exposed to large amounts of text – at work and school, or for leisure – and assists people who have low vision or reading difficulties, including dyslexia and reading fatigue. Additionally, we know that purchasing assistive technology is an investment of time and financial resources, and with many options on the market, finding the right solution is not always easy. Our goal is to narrow the field by researching, testing, and offering only the best, highest-quality products that use advanced, innovative technologies to help low vision users regain their independence. Despite it being the most affordable OrCam product, it is expensive. I’m fully aware it is a groundbreaking piece of kit, I just see so much potential and the price could make it unaffordable for people who really need it. Sam Seavey (The Blind Life) says it’s just the right complement to magnification, and comes the closest to perfection of all the many OCR devices he has tested.

The MyEye 2 has all of the great features of the MyReader 2 with the addition of; facial recognition for up to 100 members of your friends or family, barcode, banknote and colour recognition as well as a unique time telling gesture. This is a visor style headset with a very modern design. It’s light, and comfortable to wear for long periods. eSight 4 has 24x zoom and can connect to a TV, computer or a games console. RNIB Certificate in Contracted (Grade 2) Unified English Braille - Exam-only option for blind and partially people Finally, you will know that you are purchasing a high-quality product based on our extensive research and experience in the field. We stand behind everything we sell, and our foremost goal is to help you achieve greater independence. The OXSIGHT software, developed originally in Oxford University, features a range of modes that can help with edge, object, text and facial recognition.

The OrCam Read is a portable reading device. After been designed for people reading difficulties like dyslexia and reading fatigue, it is equally (if not more) beneficial for visually impaired people.

Furthermore, in the current health crisis, OrCam Read can help low vision users stay safe, improve mental health and reduce social isolation. You can have more confidence venturing out, knowing the device will help you navigate social distancing signage and identify products on the shelf without touching them. While home, you can use the device to stay active with hobbies like reading and cooking. We are proud to be OrCam's longest standing approved provider here in the UK. We provide specialist VisionAid 1-to-1 training which is included in the price. We also offer ongoing support from here at VisionAid HQ. Both the MyReader 2 and the MyEye 2 require no internet connection and are wireless. They both read many languages including English, German, Polish, Spanish, German and Hebrew. Allows for distance reading of signs, shop names, train and airline information screens, notice boards etc.

The final type of wearable technology is purely a talking device and therefore aimed at people with very little or no useful vision. Orcam 2 These wearable devices are mainly for magnifying text and objects and enhancing remaining useful vision. They can all enhance both distance and near vision. These technologies change all the time and some may introduce speech options in future. It is hard to find faults with this OrCam product and it is able to aid independence in many areas of daily life. This consists of a Samsung VR Gear visor headset and a Samsung smartphone with IrisVision software. It magnifies whatever you look at through the visor, whether distant or near, and the image is shown in front of your eyes. IrisVision has a very wide field of view and for some people this can compensate for peripheral, or patchy, vision loss.
