About this deal

The Poco F4 5G comes with an E4 AMOLED display with 1300 nits of brightness and support for HDR10+. The display is accurate for 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut. The dimensions and refresh rate of the device are yet to be unveiled. There have been reports that the screen is 6.67-inches and could support up to 120Hz refresh rate. Camera and battery The Poco F4 5G will officially be launched on June 23 at 5:30 PM during a global launch event. Poco had begun unveiling some of the specifications of the device and we've got a pretty good idea of the smartphone. The Poco F4 GT’s main camera is much better but, again, does not quite match up to what you can get elsewhere for the money. Tight natural textures like leaves and grass can look unnatural up close, particularly in anything less than great lighting. In addition to the HDR10+ offered by the Poco F3, the Poco F4 adds Dolby Vision support, giving you a broader range of HDR content to enjoy. In tandem with the powerful Dolby Atmos-compatible speakers, these credentials make the Poco F4 an excellent choice for streaming. Firing up Our Planet on Netflix to test it out, I found David Attenborough’s dulcet tones to be suitably soothing, and I’ve honestly never seen a penguin look better. Triangular indents sit in the camera housing, the finish on the rear cover, while the camera flash LED sits inside a lightning strike-shaped cutout.

The idea is sound, and so is the execution. But additional buttons mounted onto a thin phone often aren’t much of an upgrade to the virtual on-screen controls designed for the purpose. Screen The Poco F4 GT is part of a series from Xiaomi that appeals primarily for techies and mobile gamers. Early Poco phones were nigh-on unbeatable in the performance they offered for the money. Indeed, Night mode shots here are improved, with greater detail and clarity. They’re still not on a par with shots snapped on the likes of the Pixel 6a, the OnePlus Nord 2T, or the Realme 9 Pro Plus, however.Peak gaming performance is fantastic, netting 10140 points in 3D Mark’s Wild Life benchmark. This is even more abstracted from real-world than a benchmark score usually is, though, as power is massively throttled during successive runs. Though the Poco F4 features a 10x digital zoom, there’s little reason to magnify that much, as even the 3x zoom loses quite a lot of detail. Below, you can see the wire mesh that sits over the facade but the intricacies of the stonework are smoothed out somewhat. It will do in a pinch, but nine times out of ten you’ll be better off just moving closer to your subject. The 8-megapixel ultrawide camera seems to be business as usual – which translates as not particularly great. Detail drops off significantly compared to the main sensor, particularly at the edges; dynamic range is limited, and I noticed blue sky artifacts when shooting on a clear day.

When it comes to competing devices, the Poco F4 5G will be going head-to-head against the Realme GT Neo 2 5G, the iQoo Neo 6 5G, iQoo 7 and Motorola Edge 20 Pro just to name a few. Cut to the chase Xiaomi has changed up the design of the Poco F4, but it’s left the display alone. Considering this 6.67-inch AMOLED screen was one of the standout components of the Poco F3, it’s tough to paint that as a negative. The Poco F4 GT also has a super stabilised mode, but I think the stabilisation at 4K/60 is good enough in most cases. It’s what I would suggest using by default, as the added stabilisation limits you to 1080p/30fps capture. It shouldn’t surprise you to learn that the Poco F4 uses a battery with a capacity that’s identical to the Poco F3. At 4500mAh, it’s also the same as the unit used in the OnePlus Nord 2T, and very similar to the Pixel 6a (on 4410mAh).

It’s capable of standing up to a day of use with 4hrs 45mins of screen-on time – what I’d term a moderate-to-intensive day – with just under half a tank left. The Poco F4 GT is not a long-lasting phone. It has a 4700mAh battery, which is a little smaller than the 5000mAh used in many mid-range Xiaomi phones and far smaller than the 6000mAh of the Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro. The Poco F4 GT is unusually clear outdoors, because the OLED is allowed to reach closer to its true peak brightness outdoors than most. Outdoors clarity is therefore very good. Recently the smartphone was also spotted on Geekbench which provided more insights into the variants launching soon. The results were those of the 12GB RAM model and we expect it to come with 256GB of internal storage. Other reports also hint that an 8GB model with 128GB storage is also slated to arrive in India. This kind of throttling happens in every phone I’ve used with the Snapdragon SoC, but it is worse there than in most. Perhaps the most important job of a gaming phone is to maintain good performance. But after a few minutes the Poco F4 GT’s dips below that of the Realme GT 3 Neo, for example, a phone with much less of a gaming focus.
