PDF / EPUB File Name: The_Confidence_of_Wildflowers_-_Micalea_Smeltzer.pdf, The_Confidence_of_Wildflowers_-_Micalea_Smeltzer.epub this book was genuinely going so well until we hit the 60% mark and then it became drama central leading to probably the worst ending for me. The story revolves around Salem, an eighteen-year-old navigating the uncertain waters of young adulthood. Her life takes an unexpected turn when Thayer Holmes, a grumpy landscaper, moves in next door and offers her a job as a nanny for his adorable son. What follows is a passionate and unconventional love story that defies societal norms due to a significant age gap. I also loved Salem's relationship with her mother and also the brutal honesty that came from Salem's therapy copying mechanisms. Their baking was so cute and I loved their bonding in that (I will forever associate cookie dough cupcakes with this book). Honestly, I just wanted to protect Salem and her mum at all costs. Their lives were awful when their husband/father was alive, and yet these woman made it, they survived it, and they fought for their happiness. Ugh, my heart hurts just thinking about them. god I hated this. She did NOTHING. Both Caleb and Thayer constantly doing things to show how they care for her. What did she do? NOTHING.

I was completely excited to start this story, it had absolutely all the tropes I love, and I saw so many people talking just wonderful things about it. At first I was in love, but after 30% I started to feel uncomfortable with the main characters relationship as they were starting to get involved while she was still DATING (and if you don't mind cheating trope go ahead, but it's a big "NO" for me), but I still had hopes that she would break up with her boyfriend before something really happened to the hero, but no...she cheated on him, and still didn't feel guilty while doing so . One aspect of the book that could have been improved was the pacing of certain scenes. Some pivotal moments in the story felt rushed when they should have been more detailed to fully explore the characters’ emotional development. Some of the scenes were catastrophically, bury-my-head-in-the-sad, genuinely unbearably, cringe. I wish I could say they were the good kind. *They were not*. During Salem and Thayer’s 5 year separation, they did not communicate or reach out to one another so Thayer has no idea about their daughter.

Sadly, like I mentioned before, there was so much foreshadowing about Forrest's death. The spiral that happened to Thayer is understandable. I felt his pain at the loss and his sadness took over every good thing he had in his life. Nothing was going to fix it and he tried to push Salem away and did a fantastic job at it. This is everything I dislike in a book and more. I tried, I really did but I cannot and will not look past some key points. It was hard to enjoy any “good moments” because of the whole unnecessary shit. The romance in this book was cute but I thought personally that The love interest didn’t act his age most of the time which made him seem younger and idk the age gap less noticeable. Salem's response to the tragedy at the end of this book was so off. I could not understand her rationale at all. It boggles the mind and that's not even taking into consideration the very last bomb dropped as the cliffhanger. The ending was as if an entirely different book was being written and it had to be crammed into a short story. It was disjointed and messy and given the way the first several hours dragged on in detail and the last hour was rushed made it feel like it was only edited at the end of the story. There were also too many plot lines that never got resolved.

The family trope in this book was very prominent and it’s one of my favorite things of all time so I really loved seeing it in here as well. My guy then goes on to say, "I'm not bright like you, but I promise, when your days are dark, I'll be your light." 😭😭❤️ There are so many more things (even worse ones) that I could mention, but I really don’t have the energy. Just spare yourself this. So much of this book didn’t need to be there and added nothing to the story. (Also a problem in book one but I was willing to let it go) But by the end I was just mad at myself for wasting my time.Throughout this was an emotion rollercoaster. It’s interesting how much Salem endured but still managed to shine. While comparatively Thayer’s life honestly seemed less complicated and he didn’t endure it as well. Now, six years have passed, and during that time, Salem became a mother to her five-year-old child named Seda. She started a relationship with Caleb and eventually married him, although she knew deep down that she could never love him the same way she loved Thayer. Being a scientist who enjoys experimenting on unsuspecting individuals, she married Caleb with the belief that she could develop love for him. i really wanted to love this but ultimately the choices the author made did not work for me, but they might for you if you want an emotional book. I should’ve DNFd this book honestly, because nothing happens in the 70% that follows. Literally nothing. The rest of the book is Thayer and Salem having their HEA. It felt like an unnecessarily long epilogue. thayer is the new grumpy neighbor of salem who’s in his early 30s and on top of that a single dad to his 6 year old son. when salem breaks trough his walls we can see him being extremely protective and sweet to her i was swooning the whole time. that man made her, her own personal gym in his basement and fired someone for talking disrespectful to her. double swoon. he was so adorable and them being all domestic and shit with little forrest was so wholesome.

I’m still gonna read it but idk how I’m gonna like it now. It’s just a matter of finishing not actually enjoying it. A note on the cheating: I will admit. I felt a little bad for Caleb...but in the same way that Caleb understood why she cheated, I also understood it. I know there will be some readers that view this as a huge NO, but please don't discount this book because of that. Nothing happens in this book. It's ALL repetitive. No drama. Same dialogues, same inner monologues being repeated. (I skimmed through the last 20% and I have no regrets). No, instead she marries the ex boyfriend she cheated on with Thayer, let’s him raise Thayer’s daughter, married him knowing Caleb loves her more than she loves him, and is still in love with another man the whole time they’re together.

The Confidence of Wildflowers Book PDF Summary

By the end of book one I was in desperate need of answers, so the minute I could get my hands on this book I devoured every word. The love-story itself was... just no? There was no spark (hell, there wasn’t even a little microscopic twinge), no chemistry, and the whole plot was just a succession of embarrassing moments and equally embarrassing dialogues (and actually unspeakably embarrassing thoughts from our brilliant contradiction of a MC). And it was just so BORING. Gah. Salem and Thayer keep their feelings and budding relationship a secret when there is no need. It was the strangest relationship progression I've ever read. So many grand gestures like Thayer building a home gym in his basement just for Salem (we're talking thousands of dollars worth of equipment) but oh no they definitely are NOT dating yet.... TWs: Cancer, Death, Childhood Sexual Abuse (father), Cheating (their first time she is still with her BF) If Dreams of 18 by Saffron A. Kent had a baby with The Naked Fisherman by Jewel E. Ann it would be The Confidence of Wildflowers.
