About this deal

Despite all her prejudices–somewhat legitimate, as they come from past experiences–Gemma was a great character. She’s dedicated, has a good heart, and wants to change the office’s ways. It was terribly frustrating to see how her bosses kept interfering. Her journey wasn’t an easy one. The writer took out a lot of emotions from me: joy, jealousy, sadness, anger, disappointment, love ❤️ anyways, the devil series started off cute with talia and hayes ( A Deal with the Devil - he gave her 16 orgasms in 1 night... sus but okay), but then dr josh stepped into the scene in book 2 and stole my heart and my POOSAY too 🤰🏽( The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea), but ben and gemma? YOUR HONOR THEY STOLE MY LIFE!!!

Gemma is looking for her happily ever after, only she has this ridiculous idea in her head that she wants a picture-perfect Hallmark movie fairy-tale, to fall in love and be swept off her feet by a small-town guy who will take her away from the rat race of the big city and stressful job and teach her to love the quiet life. Samantha Brentmoor brought this audiobook to life and my goodness she does a fantastic job on this solo project. Samantha is an incredibly talented woman and her performance as Gemma and Ben was phenomenal. I felt every emotion the characters went through and always know when I see Samantha’s name that a book is in good hands. This book was vague, occasionally there were chapters that threw me into the past and gave me shards of information, some confirmed my suspicions, some made me change the direction of my speculations about where this writer is taking me with the plot. There’s a devil on my shoulder, and every Monday morning she announces herself. She’s this delicious flame in my chest, a flurry of whispered suggestions in my ear. Suggestions I ignore…because every single one of them is about Ben Tate. Ben–Stealer of Clients, Evicter of Homeless Women, Nemesis. Sitting across from me every damn Monday with his lovely, smug smile and his too-perfect teeth, the living symbol of everything I hate. It’s been my policy to avoid him, but when a case comes into the firm–one that could change his career and mine–I make an exception. It means weekends and evenings by his side. It means enduring his smirk and his smart mouth and never taking the bait. Until the night Ben says, “Beg.” And that devil on my shoulder decides to make a few demands of her own. The Devil You Know (Devil, #3) by Elizabeth O’Roark – eBook Details Ben is one of the most swoon worthy MMC's I've read lately...to live inside his brain. The way he pays attention, the way he cares for Gemma and the term actions speak louder than words is quintessential Ben. Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Gemma and Ben’s story. They are work colleagues and have a kind-of a nemesis relationship after Ben took one of Gemma’s clients when he started years prior. They enjoy fighting and riling each other up with jabs, but they have to play nice when they are both assigned to a big case. The tension comes to a head one night and they end up crossing the line and sleeping together. There is some work drama, some heavy baggage they have to work through, and some sweet and sexy times…and they get a HFN ending. You know what’s fun about the men you date?” he replies. “The way they don’t exist in the first place.”

The FMC believes the only way she will ever get a happy ending is if she falls in love with a simple minded, small town guy who will teach her how to love a quiet life, forget about the soul crushing big city life and her stressful job. Ben Tate is here to teach her that she would never be happy in a crappy small town and that she is meant for so much more. This also had enemies with benefits vibes which is usually not my favorite thing but I enjoyed it here. Closure: This ends in a cute place with what I would call a HFN ending but I know other readers might be fine calling it a HEA they are about to get engaged. The author does offer a bonus epilogue if you sign up for her newsletter (but I’ll be stubborn and refuse to read it 😉). I really liked her tough, no bullshit personality in the first half and i actually didn't like Ben that much bc he acted like a douche canoe. The are a few things I didn't really appreciate, that obviously kept me from giving this more than those 4 stars; for one, there were certain scenes and situations that didn't get along well with the characters and their personalities.Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story. Day like everyday, Ben = hot, smart, obsessed with you lawyer shoveling your mom's path because you were mad that no one else did it for her in her neighborhood.
