The Lowlist: Thin Lizzy's Live And Dangerous is one of the greatest live albums ever released". Guitar World. 26 March 2023 . Retrieved 25 April 2023. Crew [People who were involved on the tour: 'Johnny The Fox' 1976], Technician [Colac PA] – Paul Nice (2), Scott Thompson (11) Released in 1978, just as the hot streak starting with 1975's Fighting and running through 1977's Bad Reputation came to an end, Live and Dangerous was a glorious way to celebrate Thin Lizzy's glory days and one of the best double live LPs of the 70s. But even if there was some tweaking in the studio, Live and Dangerous feels live, containing more energy and power than the original LPs, which were already dynamic in their own right. ( AllMusic) Lynott Sykes: As a NWOBHM offspring, I was unfortunately too young to witness the release of this legendary live album at the time, but its iconic cover art intrigued my teenage brain. My introduction to Thin Lizzy was Live/Life, and I didn't know it was their swan song. Since then, not a year has passed without listening to it several times, I can remember every moment of it, so I'll be the only blasphemer here to confess that I'd rather take Live/Life on a desert island, even if L&D sounds better.

never miss a release.

Andrew Bramah: Great album. Only let down by the omission of a few songs they played when I saw them. Like Soldier Of Fortune which they opened with with, and Opium Trail and Bad Reputation. Side three of the original vinyl album is a bit generic crowd pleasing. I still think Robertson was a huge natural talent wasted. Adrian Bolster: I was 14 at the time, still have my vinyl copy with photos from Fin Costello. Harmonica from Huey Lewis (Clover) on Baby Drives Me Crazy and John Earl on Sax from Graham Parker and The Rumour. Awesome. Matrix / Runout (Side B runout, stamped, variant 8): 9199645 2Y //2 UT 11LC2 (etched LOUIE) [Lyre Symbol] The footage of the lineup with John Sykes was very, very cool to see. Sykes is on par with Gary Moore for chops and played with a lot of enthusiasm. The songs from Thunder and Lightning were welcome to hear too, those tunes have really grown on me, and add to the scope of Phil's writing catalog. The sound was a lot better to my ears than that on the Rainbow Theatre footage. I very much appreciate getting this footage for the price of the DVD which ostensibly geared toward the Rainbow Theatre. Maxwell Martello: I’d give this one a 9/10. It is perfect, but artificially so. It’s been well documented by Tony Visconti and the band that about 25% of the record benefits from studio wizardry. Frampton’s record (or Kiss’s Alive!) for that matter were just as doctored. Promotion [Seneca College Fieldhouse for 'Bad Reputation’ 1977] – Concert Productions International, Mike Cohl

Robertson subsequently quit Thin Lizzy permanently to form Wild Horses with former Rainbow bassist Jimmy Bain. He was replaced by a returning Gary Moore, who had already been a band member in 1974 and 1977. With the 3 Hammersmith nights from 1976, 2 Philadelphia shows from 1977, the Toronto show from 1977 and the Rainbow theatre show from 1978, there’s a lot to listen to. Two nights from the Philadelphia Tower comprise discs five and six – thank goodness Lizzy sets were short and sharp enough to fit a (then-nonexistent) compact disc. Eleven months had elapsed from Hammersmith, and the first Philly gig was considered worthy of ‘official bootleg’ release as 2009’s Still Dangerous. “This show is being recorded for (radio show) King Biscuit,” intones Lynott knowingly as the band launches into Soldier Of Fortune. That Bad Reputation deep cut – as well as five better-known extras including a spine-tingling Still In Love With You not heard before – reminds us we are in what was, for so long, uncharted territory. I may never listen to anything but Thin Lizzy for the rest of my life.
