About this deal

They were oddly perfect for each other. They each understood the deep seeded addiction the other suffered. They'd seen each other at their worst and the way they cared for each other (and I'm not even talking romantically, I just mean caring from one person to another) was just so incredible heart wrenching.... I mean, HOLY EMOTION!!!! Progress. That’s what Lily’s striving for. But by trying to become closer to her family—people who aren’t aware of her addiction—she creates larger obstacles. When she spends time with her youngest sister, she learns more about her than she ever imagined and senses an unsettling connection between Daisy and Ryke Meadows. Wow, you're a real winner. You're basically like Ryke but worse. You're nosey and superficial and just soooooooooo arrogant it's not even funny. You are actively mean and say inappropriate things all the time and you think all women are gold diggers and yeah I obviously hate you. Frankly, you and Rose deserve each other. You can give people unsolicited life advice and show up at each other's houses unannounced together forever. We lied for each other and hid our infidelities, playing the role of doting boyfriend and girlfriend. The deeper we sink, the harder it is to crawl out. I fear the moment when… someone discovers our secrets. At any moment, everything can crumble beneath us."

she actually doesn’t believe she’s capable of overcoming her addiction. Lily has been using sex to make her feel better for such a long time so she thinks that stopping is unfeasible and that’s just... so sad. throughout the book we see her constantly feeling guilty and that guilt makes her push her family and any other person away because she thinks they would judge her and not understand what she was going through — which, from her point of view, is perfectly understandable. Hi, honey. I did not need to hear about all of your detailed fantasies about literally every stranger you saw throughout this whole book. Also, I'm a little mad that you didn't make that poor Giggalo a cup of coffee.

We’re terrible at so many things—remembering important dates, college, making friends—but the one thing we’ve always been halfway decent at is being together. We owe it to ourselves to try." i SWORE to myself that i was just going to skim read this and only read the parts where Rose and Connor interact so im prepared for Kiss the Sky but one thing lead to another and i ended up taking an 8 hour break from studying so alas here i am.

Addicted to you revolves around two characters Lily and Loren, who are extremely flawed but it’s easy to understand why given their contrasting addictions. Their addictions have upended their lives for so many years without external support to deter them further from it. This was so raw and ugly and painful to witness. They were so toxic to eachother and enabling eachother and being coondipedant. Seeing their addictions get the best of them. Them wanting to do better but being so scared to let go of their addictions, realising they are destroying them but at the same time being comfortable in the familiarity of it. The fear they wouldn't be happy without it. Wanting each other to get better, but being scared of helping them because they were scared doing it themselves. Being terrified of what this wiil mean for their bond and their relationship. Connor texts Rose to come over and Lily finally tells Rose about her sex addiction and Loren's alcoholism. Over the next week, Loren goes through detoxification with a nurse hired by Connor. He decided he didn't want to go to rehab and instead stay with Lily. Lily makes no change to her addictive behaviours. Rose is holding a fashion show for her fashion label Calloway Couture when Lily can't handle her cravings and goes to the bathroom to have sex with Lo. Afterwards, she still has cravings and she leaves before the show starts to have sex with Lo again. This hurts Rose to the point where she won't answer Lily's calls for some time.

As you get further in, you’ll notice and understand the impenetrable bond they share as friends and in their relationship. The depth of their struggle and fight for a real functional and normal relationship bc they didn’t know how without hurting each other really pulled on my heartstrings. I want to devour the rest of the books so happy that lulu pushed me to start this rn (in the middle of other books and series :)) In terms of the sex between Lily and Lo, I was actually very of disappointed. I felt like there was always no build-up and that it was awkwardly rough, personally I thought it would've been nicer if the author made their sex a little more tender and intimate, I wish she that she would've shown that having sex with someone you love is way more powerful and fulfilling and DIFFERENT than having sex with a stranger or someone you're not at all emotionally invested in or attached to. So if you want something real (given the nature of each addiction), with complex characters and plot, extremely unconventional, tender, intense, and somehow entertaining? read this.

AND THEN when they finally get together that's where all the toxic shit happens. there were more bad than good that happened here and most of the time i do feel bad but other times i get so frustrated because of how selfish they both are- especially Lily. but i can't exactly be really mad at them cuz of their addiction and well, selfishness is the reality for addiction so- everything is just COMPLICATED.

The music was fabulous as well; especially their singing. The main two have such nice and lovely voices! Addicted to your is raw, intense, and difficult to read at times. These two characters are addicts, and it’s not a happy story at all. This is an angsty, intense story of love and addiction, but also compelling and realistic. I thought Lilly’s story was more compelling for me, as I haven’t read many books about a sex addict and it was so interesting as well as heartbreaking for me to see inside her life of compulsion.

Unless we want to say goodbye to our luxuries from our inherited wealth, we have to pretend to be together. And pretend that we’re two perfectly functioning, perfectly well-kept human beings.” That’s what Lily and Lo try to do when Jonathan Hale schedules an “important” meeting. The problem: after being swept into the public eye and battling their addictions, they’re not sure what the worst is anymore. In a sea of many changes—including Ryke & Daisy living with them—Lily realizes that the best part of her fluctuating hormones might just be the worst.

i love you, but i want to love you enough that i never choose alcohol over you. not even for a moment. i want to be someone you deserve. who helps you rather than enables you, and i can’t begin to do that until i get help for myself.” Not only did I age about 10 years while reading this, but the amount of enabling by both Lily and Loren was starting to trigger me. I understand addiction, I’ve seen it, but enabling someone’s addiction and knowing that you’re doing it makes you partially responsible for anything that happens to them. I’m glad lo thought of himself by going to rehab. Selfish or not he still feared for Lilly and that makes me melt a little more for him. despite all this, i can appreciate how the authors showed - not told - the struggles and negative aspects of what sex addicts go through and how it can impact friendships and family relationships. it felt real to me so that's why it was so painful to read. but again, there's A LOT more bad than good in this book in every sense so yeah it makes sense for every encounter to be painful. though, i just finished Ricochet now and lemme tell y'all- Lily's character development tho. YES. This series definitely showed that. It wasn’t at all cliche or whatsoever and that was amazing. There was nothing about cheating or whatever just based on true love around 6 people.
