About this deal

Brown staining of the teeth. This is not permanent and can largely be avoided by brushing the teeth with toothpaste (but see above), or in the case of dentures, using a conventional denture cleaner. Avoiding drinking tea, coffee or red wine, especially in the hour after using the spray, can also help prevent staining. Where normal brushing is not possible, or if any staining remains, your teeth may need scaling and polishing by your dentist after you've finished using the spray. Stop using the mouthwash and seek immediate medical help if you get a rash, swelling of the mouth or face or have difficulty breathing. These effects may be symptoms of a severe allergic reaction which is very rare. Pour 10ml into the measuring cup. Rinse the mouthwash around your mouth for about 1 minute. Spit out the mouthwash, do not swallow it.

Adults and children over 12 years of age should use the spray twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Up to twelve sprays should be applied to the surfaces of the teeth and gums, or to ulcers or other sore areas in the mouth. To manage mouth inflammation caused by denture rubbing, the dentures should also be sprayed with Corsodyl spray after cleaning. For the treatment of dental stomatitis the dentures should be cleaned and then sprayed with Corsodyl spray. Corsodyl should not be used for children under 12 years of age unless it is recommended by a dentist. For the treatment of gingivitis a course of about one month is advisable although some variation in response is to be expected. In the case of aphthous ulceration and oral candidal infections treatment should be continued for 48 hours after clinical resolution. In case of soreness, swelling or irritation of the mouth, stop using the product and consult a healthcare professional.

The normal adult dose is appropriate for elderly patients and children of 12 years and over unless otherwise recommended by the dentist or the physician. The usual dose for children aged 12 and older is up to 5 lozenges a day. Adults can have up to 10 a day. Talk to a doctor or pharmacist if this bothers you or does not go away. Common side effects with sore throat and dental treatments If the mouthwash causes soreness, irritation or swelling in your mouth, or any breathing difficulties, you should stop using it and get advice from your pharmacist, doctor or dentist.

5. Side effects

If you have been prescribed chlorhexidine and forget to take it or apply it on a regular basis, it may help to set an alarm to remind you. You could also ask your pharmacist for other ways to remember your medicine. What if I use too much? If you cannot use it at a different time, then rinse your mouth thoroughly with water after brushing your teeth. Wait at least 5 minutes before using chlorhexidine. Some people get peeling skin inside their mouth when using chlorhexidine. If this happens to you, stop using the medicine and the side effect will usually clear up. Speak to your dentist or doctor, who may be able to recommend a different medicine. Use your chlorhexidine treatment instead of soap or shower gel when you wash. You use it in the same way as an ordinary soap or gel. However, it may not be as foamy. The following are some of the side effects that are known to be associated with Corsodyl mouthwash. Just because a side effect is stated here doesn't mean that all people using this medicine will experience that or any side effect.
