In the 2002 series, Beast Man is far more ferocious and more of a threat to the heroes. He is a skilled fighter and often comes to the rescue of Skeletor and his fellow Evil Warriors, using his griffins as their most frequent means of transportation. Prince Adam's pet is a fearful green tiger named Cringer. Whenever Adam becomes He-Man, he similarly transforms Cringer (in the latter's presence) into a lion-hearted armored green tiger named Battle Cat. Battle Cat serves as He-Man's "steed" and fierce fighting companion; like He-Man, he was created prior to his alter ego.
In The Toys That Made Us, then-marketing VP of Mattel Paul Cleveland recounts the story that while the decision was made for He-Man to have some sort of vehicle, they no longer had the budget to be able to produce one; the decision was then made to repurpose a tiger from the Big Jim toy line. [7] The tiger was, however, not the same scale as the He-Man figure, and compared to He-Man, was about the size of a horse. Cleveland, however, insisted it to be used, even after artist Tony Guerrero made a green version in an attempt to discourage Cleveland, who instead approved of the color change and suggested putting a saddle on it, which resulted in Battle Cat's final design. [8] Powers and abilities [ edit ] saw the release of Battle Punch He-Man, who was mostly similar in appearance to the unarmored looks of the previous version. He included a Power Sword and shield.
After freeing Teela, Krass, Duncan and Cringer, Adam shares the power of Grayskull with them to turn them into Sorceress, Ram-Ma'am, Man-at-Arms and Battle Cat, respectively. Adam fights Keldor, while the others take on Kronis, Evelyn, and a shadow copy of Battle Cat. After the heroes are victorious, Keldor grows mad to the point where he believes his curse is a blessing in disguise, and tries to gain more Havoc power from the castle, warping his scepter into the Ram-Headed Havoc Staff. He jumps into the beam of Havoc, and drags Kronis and Evelyn along with him, apparently vaporizing them all. Instead, unbeknownst to the new Champions of Grayskull, the fortress banishes the villains into Snake Mountain, the capital of the Fright Zone. Keldor's additional exposure to Havoc expands the effects of his curse and drives him even more insane, mutating him into a muscular but grotesque skeletal warrior named Skeletor, who brands Evelyn and Kronis his minions, sets up an evil lair in Snake Mountain with his Havoc magic and plots to destroy all his enemies rather than conquer them. King Grayskull was voiced by Cam Clarke in the 2002 series, Dennis Haysbert in Masters of the Universe: Revelation, and Alan Oppenheimer in the 2021 series. Cringer, despite being a large cat, displays characteristics more consistent with a domestic house cat. He sleeps most of the day, overeats, and gets scared very easily. He can talk, although no reason is ever given for this ability. In 1987, Cannon Films produced a live-action film Masters of the Universe which features Dolph Lundgren in the role of He-Man. Although the film was not received well upon its release, it has developed a strong cult following over recent years. Sir Laser-Lot is a knight in an enchanted blue armor wielding a laser sword, shield, and mace. Designed by Geoff Johns and sculpted by the Four Horsemen, Sir Laser-Lot was created exclusively for the Classics toyline. He was the mightiest of King Grayskull's knights on Preternia. He-Man had Sir Laser-Lot brought to the present to serve as the King's new Man-at-Arms so that he can train the King's son Dare and the Royal Guards in ancient battle techniques.
He is twice seen without his battle helmet, revealing a rather fiercer and saber-toothed version of Cringer's face beneath. In the episode "The Power of Grayskull", King Grayskull was shown to have his own mount, albeit more lion-like and with a mane, who stayed by his side until his death. Although he is certainly a coward, he is less motivated by fear than a simple desire to find peace and quiet. Cringer can speak, and does so frequently to complain about the commotion in the Royal Palace or his duties to the Goddess. When summoned by Zoar, Adam and Cringer must visit the Cavern of Power, whereupon they are instantly transformed into He-Man and Battle Cat.

[46] [47] King Miro [ edit ] His alter ego in "The Powers of Grayskull" line was going to be a young man named Gray, mirroring the Adam/He-Man dual identity. Uttering the magic words "By the power of good, I strive for peace!" would transform Gray into He-Ro. The Masters, minus Ram Ma'am, charge into Skeletor's lair. Skeletor uses his Havoc powers to turn his minions into the Dark Masters: Evil-Lyn, Trap-Jaw and Beast Man. While the Masters fight the Dark Masters one-on-one, their new powers make them an equal match for the team. He-Man battles Skeletor, but Skeletor manages to break the Sword of Power in half, cutting the Masters off from the Power of Grayskull. Things only get worse when Skeletor brainwashes General Dolos and takes control of the Red Legion. The episode ends with the Masters being dunked in a pit of pure Havoc to corrupt them.
Weapon Mastery: The main weapon of He-Man is his sword, "The Sword Of Power." It is virtually indestructible, and can deflect rays magical or technological. The Sword Of Power can also shoot energy beams, and also absorb energy. Originally, He-Man's primary weapon was an axe. The chest piece on his baldric (battle harness) is made of an Eternian mineral called coridite, that helps add to his physical strength. Exclusive to the 2002 series, Chief Carnivus (voiced by Paul Dobson) is the lion-like warrior chief of the Qadians, a tribe of cat-people. While originally neutral, he agrees with Prince Adam and Teela to side with King Randor and He-Man in the fights against Skeletor. In "To Walk with Dragons," Chief Carnivus becomes a member of King Randor's council. Kittrina is a cat-like warrior who appeared in the 1980s series and is a member of the Cat Folk race that lived in the Vine Jungle. As an agent of King Paw, Kittrina was angered that the people of Eternos City was intruding on their Temple of the Cat. She helped He-Man and Teela recover a Cat Folk statue that Webstor stole as part of Skeletor's plot to free the Grimalkin demon from its statue form. Afterwards, Kittrina plans to improve the relationship between the humans and the Cat Folk after being infatuated by Battle Cat.
