About this deal

No matter what the operating mode, channel faders and rotary controls can be ‘flipped’ so that the channel level is controlled by the rotary controls, and parameters – as determined by the current Operating mode – are controlled via faders.

The QCon Pro G2 is class-compliant with Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7/8/10, and Mac OS X and features a high speed USB 2.0 connection. The QCon Pro G2 is expandable to up to 32 channels using three Qcon EX G2 extenders. Eucon: Originally developed by Euphonix, Eucon is a high-speed ethernet-based control protocol, which carries control information for faders, knobs and displays between control surfaces and whatever the main Eucon enabled application is in focus on your computer, such as Pro Tools, but not restricted to just Pro Tools. Any DAW that supports Eucon can benefit from the deeper integration offered with Eucon as opposed to HUI and MCU. Focusing on the main unit, the QCon Pro G2, I find that each of its eight channel faders is accompanied by a bank of four buttons that control the Solo, Mute, Record Enable and Selected/Active state of the corresponding DAW channel.A wide range of audio and MIDI interfaces from compact portable devices to a selection of multi-channel recording interfaces. Several devices offer 24bit 96/192kHz resolution and superb digital conversion for truly pristine sound quality; whether in the studio or doing live field recordings.

DAW Overlays for Cubase/Nuendo, Logic Pro, Digital Performer, FL Studio, Samplitude, Reaper, Studio One, Bitwig, Reason, Pro Tools, Sonar, Audition, Ableton Live, FL StudioAll housing parts and the angled display sit tightly together, and the fader modules can also be unscrewed individually. The feel of the controls is convincing for a moderately priced DAW controller. There is no 2-character "Assignment" display. On the MCU (and, from pictures, on the XTouch as well), this tells you what state the device is in. However, this isn’t that big a deal, as the G2 indicates some of the info that would otherwise be displayed on the Assignment display in other ways (e.g. via lighted buttons or by what’s displayed on the scribble strip). Still, there are a few states that are maybe not obvious, which can lead you to think you're in a state that you're not. But I've not been much hampered by this. Different DAW overlay are included – Cubase/Nuendo, LogicPro, DigitalPerformer, FLStudio, Samplitude, Reaper, Studio One, Bitwig, Reasons, ProTools, Sonar, Audition, Ableton Live and User define mode Well, that's not exactly true. We tested the unit on a brand new, maxed out, 2019 iMac with the current versions of OS X, Reaper, and Logic Pro X installed. It does not work out of the box.

Roll forward to August 2018 and Alan Sallabank asked whether he should buy a set of iCON control surfaces. Has iCON managed to make compromises to produce a compact control surface in the right places? Are the Platform M+ and X+ the compact controller we should be buying? Being a Eucon control surface, you get the deep DAW integration, for a range of DAWs and NLEs and flexibility in a versatile control surface designed for fast project turnaround. Plus, its price makes it an easier choice for freelance sound editors and mixers. This cookie stores user-like settings for the chat system provider, which are required for our online chat service. Trusted Shops Other features of the QCon EX G2 are illuminated buttons for mute, solo, record arm and channel select, a dual-function rotary encoder on every channel, and a 12-segment LED level metering bridge. All faders are motorised and are touch-sensitive so that the controller knows when the user is trying to override any existing automation of the channel. The faders also all feature a 12-part LED level meter alongside the fader itself. The most important of these are located at the bottom of the fascia, clustered around the unit’s jog/scrub wheel. As well as providing transport buttons, this group of buttons can be used to navigate within the host DAW, select and move parts, zoom the DAW’s view, toggle the DAW’s Loop mode and so on. Believe it or not, the Behringer is finally here, and I consider it an ideal FaderPort alternative. The model from the DAW controller series has eight complete channel strips with motorized faders and eight additional rotary controls with LED rings. Overall, however, the controller looks very robust and durable. Even without a long training phase, the excellent cooperation between DAW and EuCon client makes it possible to optimize your workflow and use the Avid Artist Mix sensibly. More and more studios are doing without analog consoles and are working completely digitally. AVID also offers the Artist series a professional solution for smaller studios. The three products, Artist Mix, Artist Control, and Artist Transport, received the RedDot Design Award and were showered with advance praise even before they were launched. While Artist Control houses four motorized faders, a touchscreen, and a transport section, the Artist Mix proves itself with eight motorized faders, eight rotary encoders, and a strong OLED display.
