About this deal

Ms. Fanservice: Not Daphne in this episode, but Velma when she’s disguised as Jane and dressed in a hula girl outfit in the episode, she looks quite alluring. Straight Outta Nowhere: Scooby-Doo! Meets Courage the Cowardly Dog (Home Media) DVD released by Warner Home Video on September 15, 2021. There is another instance of how a rigged skeleton (or in some cases just a skull) may be, in fact, real. The Witch Doctor wears a pink and orange robe and a Hawaiian voodoo witch doctor mask. He is dark-skinned despite John Simms and his henchman being white. He carries a staff with a skull on top of it. He also has decorative leaves around his ankles.

The Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated episode The Night the Clown Cried, makes a reference to Mano Tiki Tia. Unlike A Tiki Scare is No Fair, this version did not happen in Hawaii, but the gang's hometown of Crystal Cove. The scene where Fred tells Shaggy and Scooby to meet the rest of the gang in an hour was removed from later reruns, most recently on Boomerang, for unknown reasons. Also, in this shot of the mystery machine approaching the cemetery, Shaggy's silhouette can be seen despite the fact that it is only Fred and the girls driving there. When Velma says it's strange how the Witch Doctor could get "shook up by a jungle creature," Daphne's pantyhose are missing. This is the first known time Daphne is kidnapped by the monster; excluding her imprisonment in Hassle in the Castle.

The Indian witch doctor warns the gang that they will "meet the fate of Spanish conquistadores" if they do not leave. Spanish conquistador Francisco Vázquez de Coronado explored the southwestern United States between 1540 and 1542; he was among the first Europeans to view the Grand Canyon. It's unknown if the other equipment inside the Mystery Machine besides the direction finder was actually being used in junction with it or just there for show (to make the gang look more professional). Presumably it was the former. At the very beginning of the episode, the entrance gate to the cemetery is spelled correctly. However, later in the episode, when Fred, Daphne and Velma are driving towards it to park, the spelling briefly changes to "cemetary" before reverting to the proper spelling. When the gang encounter the Indian Witch Doctor, when Scooby runs and says "I see him! I see him!", his mouth never moves. Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!: The Complete 1st and 2nd Seasons DVD set released by Warner Home Video on March 16, 2004. Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! The Complete Series (limited edition) Blu-Ray set released by Warner Home Video on September 3, 2019.
