About this deal

Result: Draw. To declare a winner, we’d have to break into the Leagues’ secret vaults, and that’s not happening… yet… Result: Draw. When both suits render their wearer almost invulnerable to harm, can either really be described as the loser? Speed Give your Kinband the support it deserves with a set of 16 Leagues of Votann dice, cast in semi-transparent plastic with burnished yellow-gold details and the faction logo on the six.* Datacards: Leagues of Votann Thunderkyn: Ballistic Skill 4+ really hurts these guys, but at 95 points they are cheap in three man squads for putting in reserves and using flexibly to either assist in secondary scoring or come on from a board edge and punk undefended targets (ideally both!). The Grav-Cannon is my gun of choice here, as it is a very flexible gun that works for a wide range of cases, with Blast, D6 shots, and Anti Vehicle 2+ at S5 AP 2 D2. 5 inch movement and 18 inch range means you need to use reserves and position carefully to get the best out of them – their ability to Overwatch on 5s means that if you don’t quite finish a target you’ve every chance of punking them when they try to do anything in your opponent’s turn. One of the best support units available to us at this time.

Well-armoured and trained to excel, Hearthkyn Warriors are the mainstay of the Oathbands. Armed with Autoch-pattern bolters or ion blasters, these squads can also field a wide variety of powerful wargear, and be fielded in units of up to 20 – including Ironkin! Einhyr Hearthguard

Final Thoughts

Greg Chamberlain – Leagues of Votann: Lots of Hearthguard, Sagitaurs and a Land Fort. Up the dwarves!! The key here is that, when a hit roll against a unit with any Judgement tokens activates the Eye of the Ancestors, it also counts as an unmodified wound roll of 6 – exactly what you need to turn your magna-rail weapon from an anti-tank gun into an anti-EVERYTHING gun! Brokhyr Thunderkyn: A Tier: I don't think I would take any weapon other than grav on these, and with grav they can do good work. Monsters are a bit of a problem for them potentially, but that's what judgment tokens are for. Veteran Einhyr Hearthguard may eventually ascend the ranks to become Einhyr Champions. Armed with brutal close combat weapons, these juggernauts can tear through enemy lines easily, their mass driver accelerators shunting them into armoured foes like a living battering ram. Hearthkyn Warriors

Let’s be clear, Votann have had a torrid time competitively in 10th so far, and there are few if any successful lists to draw upon. As such i’ve collated some ideas for your consideration, including a build of mine that I took to a 3-2 finish at Saffron Slam to test concepts in preparation for writing this article, and a heavily mechanised triple Land Fortress list from Rhys Davis that managed a 4-1 at Boardroom Brawl in August, and also leant heavily into Pioneers and Thunderkyn, with the addition of the Forgemaster / Six Man Thunderkyn combo.

Contents

Forge a new Kinhost with Combat Patrol: Leagues of Votann, containing 19 miniatures that total 24 Power Level. It includes a Kâhl who can also be built as the legendary hero Ûthar The Destined, five Cthonian Beserks, 10 Hearthkyn Warriors, and three Hernkyn Pioneers. Ûthar the Destined

Add variety to your armoured spearheads with the Deimos Pattern Predator Support Tank. This kit has five deadly new turret options – a neutron blaster, a flamestorm cannon, a heavy conversion beam cannon, an executioner plasma destroyer, and a magna-melta cannon. Run them in squadrons to maximise a single type of weapon output, or mix and match to create a responsive threat. Rounding out the vehicle selection is the Hekaton Land Fortress, sporting who knows how many tonnes of void armour, transport capacity, and STC weaponry. This robust battle tank is the ultimate expression of Kin might, a six-wheeled sledgehammer that can take as much punishment as it dishes out. Hailing from the Cthonian Mining Guild, Beserks are ferocious close combat fighters who load up with augmetics and charge headlong into combat, swinging brutal mining tools fashioned into weapons of war.* Sagitaur That’s right, you can simply make your heavy magna-rail cannon’s hit roll into a 6… which if the target has any Judgement tokens, also makes your wound roll into a 6. That’s two 6s for the price of one, and means that unless they have a 2+ Save, they can look forward to suffering 8 to 12 Wounds – which, of course, will be spread throughout that unit should any models be slain!Flanked by two airborne COGs, brandishing a staff tipped with a depiction of the Votann they serve, and wearing gear covered with runic symbols, the Grimnyr encapsulates the Leagues of Votann – their worship of the Ancestors, long-celebrated cultural traditions, and the use of intelligent machines in battle and day-to-day life. In the table below, we’ve outlined the individual values of each kit in the box to give you an idea of what you save.

As for my contribution, I'll go ahead and rate how good I think our units are in the form of a small tier list, with S being good tournament staples and D being terrible stuff nobody should take (nothing in Votann is that bad currently). Global prices have been estimated from similar-priced products. Boarding Patrol: Leagues of Votann – Price, Value & Savings Summary

Chosen for command and drilled for war from birth, Ûthar the Destined has trained his entire life to lead the Greater Thurian League to victory. He’s both an indomitable fighter and masterful commander, squeezing every ounce of potential from his soldiers while carving up his foes with the Blade of the Ancestors. The courageous warriors of the Cthonian Mining Guilds represent some of the most heavily augmented Kin – unreasonably brave souls who have enhanced the physical capabilities of their cloneskeins with cybernetic upgrades, all the better to extract precious minerals from rad-plagued nebulae, explosive asteroids, and fathomless ocean depths. The Blood Angels never fail to look incredible, even caked in battlefield debris, and these resin upgrades take your MkVI Space Marines even further. Fine gold details add a touch of class to their ‘beaky’ helmets, while the Legion icon stands out proudly on their shoulders.
