Tech Wash is a soap-based cleaner, which is formulated for waterproof, synthetic clothing, sleeping bags, garments and equipment. It is a water-based product, which is biodegradable and does not contain any VOCs or PFCs, which are considered harmless not solely to the environment but also to the human body. Take off your shoes when entering the tent. If you’re not able to leave them outside, pop them in a plastic bag.

Our proofers should not alter the look or handle of the fabric. However, it is recommended that the products are tested on a small, inconspicuous area before spraying on or washing into the garment. Depending on where you camp, it is hard to prevent the outside of your tent getting dirty, but you can help the inside. As mentioned above reproofing should only be done when the garment no longer performs as it should in terms of waterproofing even after being washed in Nikwax Tech Wash. The water repellency added by Nikwax TX Direct has been shown to last approximately 30 wash cycles and therefore as a general rule reproofing is unlikely to be more than once a year. By using Nikwax Tech Wash regularly and keeping an eye on the fabrics beading ability you will easily be able to tell when it needs a reproof.
