About this deal

However, it is not really a mystery plot in that we have to puzzle out the clues. The murder is not solved by a detective figuring it out based on the evidence. It is more of a confession that reveals the truth. I guess that is more dramatic on stage, but personally I prefer the puzzle aspect.

Another TV adaptation was made in 1982, again in the US, starring Beau Bridges and Diana Rigg. In 2002, a Russian language version was made, titled Свидетель обвинения, followed in 2005 by a Marathi language version, Khara Sangaycha Tar. A Japanese version was also made in 2011. So 10 years ago on a boat trip, the now retired barrister Sir Edward Palliser met and made love to the 17 year old Magdalen Vaughan. He was nearing 60 at the time of their affair and was enchanted by her eagerness and hero worship of him.A film version of Witness for the Prosecution premiered in 1957 (and reached general release in early 1958), with Tyrone Power as Leonard Vole, Marlene Dietrich as Christine Vole and Charles Laughton as Sir Wilfrid Robarts Q.C. [1] The film was adapted by Larry Marcus, Harry Kurnitz and the film's director, Billy Wilder. The play opened on Broadway on December 16, 1954. [3] In 1957 an American film version was made, starring Marlene Dietrich and Charles Laughton, and directed by long term Agatha Christie fan Billy Wilder. It was a high budget production with 145 extras and 38 stuntmen! The final credits ran with a request that viewers keep the plot twist a secret, as the posters said: "You'll talk about it, but please don't tell the ending." The Second Gong” (a story with Hercule Poirot) was first published in the USA in Ladies’ Home Journal, June 1932, and then in Strand Magazine, July 1932. It was later expanded into “Dead Man’s Mirror” for the book Murder in the Mews (Collins, March 1937). The Witness for the Prosecution": 31 January 1925 issue of Flynn's Weekly (Volume IV, No 2) under the title Traitor's Hands with an uncredited illustration.

Christie often stayed at Abney Hall in Cheshire, which was owned by her brother-in-law, James Watts. She based at least two of her stories on the hall: the short story The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding, and the novel After the Funeral. Abney Hall became Agatha's greatest inspiration for country-house life, with all the servants and grandeur which have been woven into her plots. Sing a Song of Sixpence” was first published in Holly Leaves (published by Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News), 2 December 1929. A gold-digging man is accused of murdering a wealthy old woman who took a shine to him. He says he’s innocent but the evidence looks damning. Did he or did he not dunit? His defence lawyer sets out to uncover the truth.I loved this mystery! I liked that it is mostly told from the perspective of the lawyers for the defense as they try to find out what really happened and find evidence to prove Leonard's innocence. The plot kept surprising me around every turn, and there are not one but three plot twists at the end! It was completely fascinating. The Mystery of the Spanish Shawl" (3 stars)-A man receives a phone call telling him he has to go and save a woman's life. I once again question the main character's intelligence. Even I realized something weird was going on.
