About this deal

Step 3: Spray the blanket with enough water to dampen it, then leave it to dry. Finally, remove the pins. Terms

These wires straighten out edges of shawls. There are also flexible ones for knitting, great for curves on shawls. These aren’t essential but useful. Step 2: Use the hottest setting for the steam function on your iron, go over the knitted piece WITHOUT pressing down. That’s really important! It gives the knitted project a smooth and flat look, which improves your garment’s overall appearance. The shawl is washed and then placed wet on the surface. Starting from the centre, the knitting is smoothed out and pinned in place. It is then left to dry for 24 hours longer than when it feels dry. The same goes if you are working with any other delicate fibre. Keep the heat / steam at a safe distance. It improves your knitting by creating a smooth, flat look. Knitting projects get crumpled or wrinkled when we’re working on them! Soak your folded section pieces or finished item in a bowl of lukewarm water and a generous dollop of KnitIQ wool wash. This is the process of finishing your knitted garment to achieve the desired size and shape and to even stitches.

A table, open space of floor or bed works well. If you are going to use your bed remember you will need to sleep and knitting can take a while to dry, especially in the colder northern climes. Step 4: Remove the scarf from the water and gently squeeze it. Place the scarf on a towel and press to remove the remaining water. You can add a small amount of delicate dish soap, rinseless wool wash, or Tuft Woolens Wool Soap to the soaking water if you wish; if not rinseless, you will need to re-submerge the piece in clean water once or twice to remove the soap from your fabric. The rust-proof part is important, as the pins will be exposed to moisture during the drying process and rust stains would be permanently visible on your finished item.Once you have the pins in the centre of the sides, continue to evenly shape the fabric, then you can add the pins in the corners. Step 3: Soak the knitted piece in water for thirty minutes. You should ensure that the fabric is fully submerged in the water. Consider squeezing the material a few times to ensure that the wool wash gets deep into the fiber.

Step 8: Pin it out. You should measure the garment or use the pattern’s instructions and pin it out as you lay down the piece to ensure it is lying according to the desired shape. When pinning out finished garments (rather than flat pattern pieces), you may just want to focus on specific areas which may need more shaping. Before you start pinning or shaping, carefully consult your schematic for the suggested dimensions and shape of the finished item. This is crucial for garment pieces! Step 9: Leave the fabric to dry. Once the material has dried, you should remove the pins and seam them together when necessary. If using a dyed yarn, sometimes there’s excess dye. Soaking your knitting helps the fiber release the extra dye.It is also used to evenly shape pieces; whether they are panels for a sweater or simple granny squares, finished items look a whole lot better if their parts are neatly shaped.
