About this deal

It's like you spilled yourself with a mixture of cacao and alcohol, adding some way too masculine spices (sharp, green, unpleasant type of vetiver). And the fig leaf is the missing weed note for the terrible explosion. kk i ve had this for 2 weeks now. blind bought it because this was never introduced to the north american market and the price was good. i knew about all the hate for this fragrance but since im a huge fan of JPG and having owned le male, fleur le male and gaultier 2 i owed it to myself to try this one out. oh boy am i glad i did and quiet frankly i dont get the hate. Ok. This one is a serious trip for me. I bought this fragrance about 2 weeks ago off someone online. Upon spraying, It smelled like the worst pine cleaner-went stale smell I'd ever smelled. I flipped out on the guy who sold it to me, not Out of the bottle, I get the burst of cacao notes that settles into a pleasant blend of patchouli, vetiver, and "woodsy" notes. It leaves curiosity, "gee, what is that smell?" to the user and those who "float across the wake" of Kokorico. Additionally, I would make a pitch that Kokorico would be an acceptable femine fragrance - almost Thierry Mugler Angel like... The man, who is rarely enthusiastic about the fragrances I test, which I wear, said "Ferragamo pour Homme", which he liked many years ago, followed sometime by "Tuscan Leather", "Fields of Rubus" - my memory doesn't give much more.

Kokorico is, in my opinion, a cologne of few surprises, in gourmand style, but isn't that sweet thanks to the base notes, which give a dry tone to the final aroma. It fits very well in colder climates or nighttime events. Lastly, it does have a "reminiscent" feel of Azzaro Visit!! I don't know how, but it does. Like a person you see in your passing that you must admit they favor your over all description, but they are not you or look like you. Strange, I know... Its predominant notes are patchouli with cocoa, vetiver and little else. It may have some wood, but the rest are very light notes. The fragrance is available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette with an accompanying collection of body care products (deodorant, shower gel, aftershave lotion).

Surrounded by "products of the type" "Hugo", "CH" or "1 Million" (I can continue to infinity ...), aimed, rather, at a teenage audience, this perfume was a pleasant surprise for How different and daring it is. After this short hint of freshness, it becomes dark (again) - resins and consecrated smoke combine with pencil cedar and a fine sweet that seems to come from chocolaty rather than gothic patchouli. When I put it on my skin I knew perfectly why this rare fragrance was discontinued and that is that for the year it came out and the Gaultier standards (especially in the time of Puig) this is a "rara avis" in their army of "Le male" this fragrance can be perfectly niche, it is a dark scent with an almost organic earthy taste that opens with a cocoa-patchouli combo that lasts throughout its life, the cocoa here is not sweet, for those who do not know the cocoa beans Toasted and grated they do not have a sweet taste or smell but rather bitter and dusty, this facet here is accentuated by patchouli and a very natural and organic vetiver. I do not know the fig plants so I do not know what the smell of their leaves is (one of the main components of this essence) but without a doubt this fragrance combines that facet of cocoa powder and patchouli with a green, sharp, wild touch with an almost milky touch and not at all sweet, all this on a slightly woody base of cedar. This is a pleasant nightclub type fragrance. To me it’s like a mild greener dark chocolate version of Spicebomb or Terre d’ Hermes. There’s a slight note of plasticine to it too.

I think this can definitely be a unisex perfume even though it's very masculine and not too sweet. To me, this is like if you took Mugler's Angel and stripped away EVERYTHING except the chocolate note and the patchouli and removed whatever mystery factor it has that makes exactly 50% of the population adore it and the other 50% HATE it, and replaced it with a cozy, comforting fig note that no one would dare complain about, you would get something like this. While patchouli is not listed, I absolutely smell a very spicy earthy patchouli. The earthy vibe is definitely from the fig, but I smell a spicy sharp patchouli. That's the magic of modern fragrances - the notes listed (and not listed) can create and mimic other scents/notes (accords). The cacao is definitely there with its soft roundness riding the wave of an earthy, spicy patchouli accord. The tonka bean in the basenotes just makes By Night all the better. The top of the composition features refreshing fig leaves, which provide energy, the heart is filled with raw cocoa, which stimulates (not the artificially sweet kind, but a natural extract), while woody notes of patchouli, cedar and vetiver express their masculinity and power. I've never understood why one of the big perfume houses hasn't taken discontinued popular fragrances and re-released them under a designer label (Jean Paul Gaultier doing a 'Homage' range for instance of old French perfumes)
